Reading FC - Past and Present

by EASTENDER MARKY » 07 Jul 2006 11:28

This is probably in the wrong place but I didn't know where to put it so feel free to move it.
I need help for an I.T project I am doing about RFC.
Anything on players Past and Present, Fans Past and Present, Elm Park and Madejski Stadium, Transfers etc would be great. Cheers.

This information already exists on a number of websites. I suggest you contact the site owners and ask permission to 'borrow' their content.

If the project involves creating a website then you may find some resistance unless you gaurantee it won't be a rival site.

Strap has a great RFC stats database, he's been working on it for years.

That's also a lot of history to compress into one project.

Elm Park - Record Attendance: 33,042 v Brentford 1927
Ground Opened in 1896 - the club moved to the Madejski Stadium in 1998

Could be useful -------> http://www.btinternet.com/~rfc1871/made ... lmpark.htm

http://www.soccerbase.com

For your project, Why not concentrate on one season as a sample and make the model suitable for expansion should the customer wish to include prior seasons. If you have time, extend it to 5 seasons etc etc

PS - Look at Football Manager for inspiration

Thanks for the advice. My idea might be a bit ambitious!

Drop me a note of the sort of things you need and I'll try to generate a series of JPG's. Too many different things possible to post samples here, but if you can be a bit more specific, I can try to help.

Here's one I like ...

I could give you a first hand account of the anti-Maxwell/merger march of April 1983 held on the same day Millwall were in town.

Weren't you there with your water cannon and a copy of the Daily Mirror tucked under your arm, Riseley?

We're you reporting for the Sun at the time or has it taken you 23 years to come up with that?

Eh!? Well, if you want to mention every game and each time the pitch was relaid or everytime the floodlight bulbs were changed, then maybe.

But other than the odd lower league championships and a couple of relegations, an FA semi in the 20's, the Simod Cup, record start to a season and a couple of play-offs, then there really isn't an awful lot of "history" (some people need to remember that now we're in the Premiership  )
