You cant play friendlies vs teams in your own league, and the side with the lowest rank has to be the home side.

hence the lack of quality Premier Teams in our pre-season portfolio :D....

seriously, how does a team like Reading end up playing a team like (no disrespect) Bromley?

I'd assume the dates suited them both and it wasnt a huge distance to travel?

Unless we have some kind of 'deal' with Bromley from a past transfer or something which I dont think we do.

I don't know if it's anything to do with it but Bromley's manager is Mark Goldberg, who used to be Chairman at Crystal Palace for at least one of Steve Coppell's spells there. Also Jon Goodman used to play for Bromley at one time. So there are some links between the clubs.

There are also a number of links between Didcot Town and the club.
RFC have approched Didcot for possibly staging some reserve games this season if the pitch gets too bad at the Mad Stad.
RFC love the pitch at Didcot, which is one of the best outside the football league and it was agreed just after that they would give the club a pre season friendly.
It will possibly become an annual event as the realationship bulids between the two clubs.
The link with Bromley is Mark Goldberg and this game had been promised even before the Didcot game was arranged. Thats why DTFC was on the Friday. However the team at Bromley was mainly youth and reserve unlike Didcot where the whole first team played apart form Haprs , Hunty , Bobby and Marcus.
This was excellent for us at Didcot but no so good for Bromley !!
I can also conform that the attendance at Didcot was 2500.

Thanx CR

2.5 k at Loop Meadow

I would guesstimate 600 at Hayes Lane (400 of which were Reading fans)

I agree , it was a pretty poor attendance.
What i found strange was the amount of Police and Stewards.
Mind you that bar in the main stand was excellent , Beer and Burgers whilst watching the game !!!!!!!
