we have undersoil heating, which means that the ground temperature will be higher than the air, meaning no fog, i think, judging by the ITV explanation of it all
They had undersoil heating at Anfield as well, it didn't help.

maybe we could have one of those silly 'hold a piece of card up in the air to make a pretty picture' day, then we can use them to move the fog, just like the hole wofting a fart away with a newspaper trick!!

i have solved the fog issue and claim my £5!!!

'The Fog' - welcome to Bobby Convey's world.

If tomorrow's match doesn't go ahead I am gonna start windmilling.

ShrewsandRoyals I have distant memories of another game where you couldn't see the other goal. Must have been mid 80's at the old Baseball Ground.

I think Colin Baille and Steve Wood dived to head the same ball in that game. Baille was spark out and Wood got up and was doing the headless chicken routine with his legs all over the place.

I remember that game - driving home after was a nightmare....took twice as long to get home....

Was that the game which ended 1-1 with a 20 yard screamer into the top corner from Michael Gilkes..? Been to the Baseball ground a few times and recall some 3-0 beatings along the way..... :(

There was a game just before the war 1938 , no I was n´t there, think it was Charlton v Arsenal. The fog became so bad that the ref abandoned the game , unfortunately for the Charlton goalkeeper Sam Bartram ,no one told him and the crowd behind the goal did n´t realise either . It was 5 or 10 minutes before anyone realised that Bartram was still on the pitch. He must have thought it was the easiest game ever not seeing the ball for 5 or 10 minutes.

If they want it to go ahead they should start a few kerosene burners going. That would 'burn it off'.

If there is any doubt of the match not going ahead tomorrow, will SC try and get the match called off considering the fixture list over the new 10 days and the fact we have no Carling Cup or European fixture commitments?

Sounds about right, hot air rises, heat up the floor, which heats up the air which makes the fog rise... we'll see...

It hardly makes the ground hot! It heats it slightly so that its just warm enough to get rid of any frost or snow etc.

It also only takes a small amount of heat to make air rise

if its that easy why don't they just turn on the engines of the planes at Heathrow and make all the fog go away?

On the other hand that small amount of heat might make the moisture start to evaporate off the pitch only to condense to water vapour when it hits the cold air, thus increasing the amount of fog!

Given the fact that the Liverpool game was still called off because of fog, I think it is probably safe to conclude that undersoil heating won't get rid of the problem.

because there is nowhere safe for those planes to just be left sitting there, with their jet engines pumping out fumes

Tarpaulin is being pulled across the roof later on today to keep the fog out - i am sure it will all be fine.

tried the tarpaulin but they didn't have a piece big enough. They've asked if the windmill can be pointed at the stadium to simply blow the fog away.
At last it has a point...
