by poohs pure » 30 Jan 2007 09:05

On the basis they are now both available for selection who should be in the team and why?

Hunt.

He has the place and it is his to lose. So far his performances have been of a high enough standard to keep his place.

All Convey can do is wait for Hunt to have a dip in form, get injured or for himself to excel in training.

Defo Hunt. To drop him after his recent performances would be wrong.

Hunt. Convey on for the last 20 minutes. Any drop in Hunt's form Convey starts.

Convey. Offers an outlet on the left and was the best player on the pitch against Birmingham on Saturday. His crossing is far superior to Hunty

Convey. Hunt has done a great job since coming into the first team but he cant cross the ball as well and lacks that burst of pace Convey has.

I would prefer Convey as he is a better player but as has been said Hunt is in possession and either he has to lose it or Convey has to perform to such a level that he demands inclusion.

Convey's the better player and his superior crossing will give us something extra in attack (especially with Kitson now back). However it's not SC's style (nor should it be) to drop a player when they've been performing well, so as others have said, the shirt is currently Hunt's to lose.

I hope and expect Convey to get back in the team eventually, but he'll have to show better form that he did before his injury. Hopefully he can show the same willingness and tenacity as Hunt has so far this season.

It would all depend on who we are playing - if were going to be under pressure for 90mins then you'd want the battling of Hunt. When playing at home against a team who are struggling in the league and where we need someone to unlock defences, someone with a bit of vision to pick out the right pass then Convey every time.

Hunt. His recent performances have been good enough to keep Convey out and with every game he plays he gets better. Convey will have to wait his turn, as Hunt did all last season.

It's Hunts shirt at the moment and his to loose, I'm sure both will play at some point and in the long run Convey will win his place back.

I actually think out of the two Hunty a better impact player coming off the bench. He's also better defensively so if we need to shut up shop with 15 to go I'd rather have Hunt replacing Convey than the other way round.

Hunty put in some perfect crosses in the last match. He can be a bit inconsistent, but so can Convey. Convey is better at free kicks, but that's what Shorey is there for.

Hunt for me too..He's upto speed with the pace of the Premiership and will bust a gut defensively for the whole game...Convey is less defensive in my mind and although maybe he's better going forward, I'd rather we pick up another few points to guarantee safety and then start mixing the formation around.

With Sonks out, I think we need to be a solid unit and with Glen or Seol on the right, the energy of Hunt will mean it will take an injury or suspension for Convey to get the place...

However, get Hunt giving 100% for 75mins then bringing Convey on wouldn't be such a bad option...

Convey will get his chance, he just needs to be hungry for it when he gets it...Starring in an Old Trafford classic cup game for example...

I wouldn't just drop Hunt and Convey has to earn his place back but as one of them can cross and the other can't ...

Hunt, at the moment he is playing well and it would be unfair to drop him on recent performances.
Convey is quality, and as soon as Hunt has a dip in form, Bobby will be straight back in that team performing at his best.

I'd imagine Kitson and the Bobster will get their half-an-hours for the next few games and then start in the Cup game, then they'll be back in the team; provided of course there are no complications to this plan what with injuries or suspensions or whatever.

Luckily I think we're in a position to be able to do this because of our relatively safe league position. (Famous last words...)

I take it Shorey's back tonight as well, or would people rather see De La Cruz keep his place?

We might be getting near to a fully fit squad soon, that'd be capital.

Is that a joke??

My one issues with convey has always been his lack of pace!! (*especially for someone called the Philadelphia Flyer*). He is more comfortable on the ball that many and plays wonderfully with Shorey, but in a pure run he rarely gets past a defender on pace alone. Hunt is the far quicker of the two in my opinion

Hunt definately for me at the mo. Our left has not looked a weak spot at all in Convey's absence so the lad will just have to wait

I just wish Hunty could finish as well as Bobby can - then it'd be even closer between them.
