catzbod Wigan manager Paul Jewell:
"I am disappointed because I felt we were miles the better side in the first half. We just gave away too many silly schoolboy errors.
"The third goal killed us really and it was definitely offside.

"We have got to cut out the silly errors at the back, they are driving me up the wall. Reading weren't made to work for any of their goals."

wot a co*k

Thats only a quarter of what he would of said...Im sure he was graciuos in defeat.

Wigan were second best apart from the first 5 minutes.

He has a point with the third goal when the ball was played into Kitson Lita was offside.

Are we expected to see Bikey start at Man City? Admittedly I have not seen much of the game but he did look uneasy in parts, reminded me of the feeling I used to get when Barry Hunter had the ball at his feet

Reminded me of Sonko when he first joined.

To paraphrase Coppell post-match on 107: One last deal setting up; it's really tough to get a deal done these days, but we're hopeful of nailing it down before the window closes.

Bikey wasn't as bad as everyone is saying! He's only young, you're all expecting him to be like Sonko!

Dickie's Spear Anyone know if Halford was at the game?

If so a pretty impressive result for him to witness.
Presumably he'll be in the side for Man City?

Yes, we saw him with his agent in the Madejski Hotel before the game.

Which under current offside rules means he was onside.

Dare I say that Marcus was our weakest link again?

Obviously Bikey did look very raw (Sonko of 2 years ago I felt) but the big American will be seriously disappointed with both goals, time for Federici me thinks.

Open to debate, I've seen those given more often than not this season. Credit to Lita, he was onto it like a shot and it was a good finish from a tight angle.

However Lita only became active when KirkLOLand punched kitson and the ball by that time he was onside.

If he was in an offside position when the inital ball was played in means sod all if hes not in an active position.

Not gonna disagree with that BUT I've seen those type of decisions given plenty of times this season.

He was sat approx 30' away from me in the Upr West red seats, with his agent.

I think you are wrong there. I don't think he could have done much about the first goal and as for the second if you watch the replay you will see it took a deflectioon off (I think) Murty which was the reason he failed to catch it

Thank you Mr. Angry and DelBoyRodders
Was curious if there was some sort of P.R. work between Greg Halford and the crowd, as it was a record breaking transaction.
Maybe it was all too rushed to whisk him around the ground to introduce him to the fans at short notice.

If that 3rd goal had been scored against us, we would have been on here going mental; I can totally understand where Jewell is coming from but, until the whole minefield that is the current off-side law is reviewed (and, imo, changed) there will continue to be decisions both for and against us, that cause blood pressures to rise.

Beaten at his near post from what, 20+ yards? You're always going to be disappointed.

Defence looked a bit of a shambles last night but as Coppell rightly points out, Bikey is still coming to terms with the English language let alone the English game.

At times I thought so. I am also certain that it was the first time that I can recall that his teammates had a go at him on a couple of occassions. Harper certainly did after his poor throw out nearly cost us and Murty had a go later in the game as well.
