Brighton v Reading

by Barry the bird boggler » 26 Jul 2007 10:17

So Saturday sees us face the biggest team in the south at the mighty withdean.

Brighton, complete with the best strikeforce in Division 3  , will be looking to turn us over even though its merely an inconsequential friendly.

Prediction

Brighton 0 - 3 Reading

I think we'll put out a similar side to last night, and we'll win 3-1.

Players nearing match fitness, another strong team hopefully. I think a 2-0 Royals win.

oh dear bas savage !

will be at the game, hopefully go down the "beach" if the weather doesn't play up as it has been lately. suppose doyle might start instead of long on saturday and the rest of the team similar. would liek to see simon church in the line up as well as he did look very good last night at griffin park.

A colleague went to Brighton's friendly versus Fulham; full of praise for Fozzy, and reckons that Fulham looked as if they had barely been introduced to each other and that they would struggle next season in the prem!

He will give me his thoughts on us next week.

Forster and Savage upfront, christ there are going to be some chances missed by Brighton this season!

Mr Angry Fulham looked as if they had barely been introduced to each other

Given their number of signings recently it probably was the first time many of them had played together.

Stack has come back and done really really well and I have always rated him personally. I think he's a much better keeper than Federici.

However Federici will play at Brighton almost certainly.

Can i also point out, i find it incredible that quite a few people have a pop at Stack yet he has rarely if ever REALLY been at fault for a goal conceeded. OK you could have maybe thought on one or two 'hmm maybe could have done better there' but never I'd say 'that was Stack's fault'. Federici has played 4 games? In at least 2 of them he's made critical errors causing goals.

For me Stack is a decent keeper, in need of games. He's come back pre season and was superb out in Korea. for me he's number 2 and would have no qualms about him starting if MH isn't 100%.

...and has always been the case

Feds is heading in the right direction...(and I'm really chuffed that his persistence paid off for him last season)......but then, there is Ben Hamer (rave revues..and plenty of practice at the beleagured Crawley Town last season)
