Playing as well or better?

by londinium » 19 Oct 2007 15:04

'Top Flight' seems to think that Shorey is playing as well as he was last season (although over 90% of other people seem to disagree), so I thought I would find out which players, if any, people think are playing as good as or better than last season.

My opinion is:

Kits is playing as well as last season albeit judgement is only based on just 6 games.

I don't think Marcus is playing any worse, Doobs and Bikey arent that much worse.

Doyle is about par and I actually think that Harps is the only one playing better than last season..... over to you lot.

I would say Gunnarsson is playing alot worse this season than he was last season.

Again that is very difficult to judge as he was mainly used a sub last season and he is starting games this season. However last year he did make a big impact when he was on the pitch and this year he has been our major weakness.

Some are fairly pointless comparisons though - Kitson for example just needs to be on the pitch and he's doing better than he did last season

Not sure this is a helpful thread.

It is clear for all to see that as a team Reading have not played as well as last year but we are only 3 points behind where we were at the same stage last year so all is to play for.

I do not think SC has worked out his best team yet but when he does I am sure normal service will be resumed.

Kitson better ...the rest worse although Doyle is approaching the same category and if fit Convey would be better...but thats cheating as I'm delving into the squad.

I would also add Kingsley to the worse than last year category. after getting sent off last year he needs to raise his level.

For me the betters are: Kitson, Convey, Duberry, Murty, Harper. (Health has a lot to do with this).

Worse: Ingimarsson (I really can't remember a bad game from last year, he has had a few mares already this year), Sonko (hurt of course, but if we include the healthy ones above, then the injured ones go here), Gunnarson (we are asking so much more of him), right wing has been bad aside from the few times we have played Convey out of position over there.

The good news is we are mid-table and have time to work things out. Coppell has his work cut out for him but if we can stay reasonably healthy then we will be fine.

Maybe it was a typo and it should be MD as in Michael Duberry.
