Next 7 games

by cmonurz » 03 Nov 2007 17:10

So where will we be at half-way? 7 games to go.

Arsenal (h) Lose
Manchester City (a) Lose
Middlesbrough (h) Win
Liverpool (h) Lose
Birmingham (a) Draw
Sunderland (h) Win
West Ham (a) Lose

7 points would put us on 20 after 19 games. Relegation form, just, but this season we do seem to have a large number of absolutely shite teams, ourselves included.

Derby I am sure will go down. Outside of that Wigan are struggling, but do look a decent side when they pick themselves up (like us). Spurs will surely pull themselves away, and Bolton have a lot of quality in their side.

Bottom four for me (in any order) - Derby, Wigan, Sunderland, Reading.

we need to beat Sunderland and Middlesboro, that is the only points i see us getting in these games, should we lose one or both we will be in trouble, however i dont think we will and the secong half of the season will see us ok.

I did say 'just', and 40 points is right on the generally accepted target.

Arsenal Loose 5-0
Man City loose 4-1
Middlesbrough win 2-1
Liverpool loose 3-0
Birmingham loose 2-0
Sunderland draw 2-2
West ham loose 3-0

4 Points out of 7 games IMO.

Defense is so incapable we could be contenders for the most ever goals conceded in a premiership season.

Derby and Wigan will be in the bottom 3 at the end of the season.I still think we will finish between 15th and 17th

I would settle for 20 points from 19 games because there are a lot of teams now struggling to average a point per game ratio that I believe 40 points will be sufficient for safety and even 38 points may be enough this time around. There appear to be 7/8 weaker sides this season of which only Spurs can be expected to pull away from danger and even then they are taking their time about doing that.

If you look back over the last 3 seasons you will see that 20 points has been well clear of relegation each year. I think at least 6/7 teams are likely to be below 20 points after 19 games this season.

Bottom teams tend to get more points in the second half as there are more meaningless games as the season goes on.

IF RFC get 20 at the half year they will be fine.

Why are you so confident that we will be loose against so many teams, and why aren't we tight in any of the others?
