I would like to tell you that my wife assisted on Rays recent operation at the RBH and became very friendly with him in the last few weeks. She was not at liberty to tell me anythink about the op but she told him in recovery that I was a big Reading fan and he gave to her his autograph to give to me.It must have been his last one,I shall treasure it.

His record speaks for its self you don't get to play that many games without being a half decent player.
RIP Bomber

Bomber was in the Stuart Pearce school of tackling and would have modern wingers like Bobby Convey crying to their mummies for protection. A man to admire and respect indeed.

For a player that made 317 appearances at the club, can I say I was slightly surprised and dissapointed we didn't have a moments applause/silence yesterday.

You're not the only one RG30. All they did was read out a message from his family when it was about 30mins to k/o, and the stadium was still more than half empty.

The only possible reason I can think of is if it was a request from his family to keep it all low-key.

Yes, that does seem the most likely explanation. At least I hope it is.
