No longer a rumour - Jay Tabb

by LoyalRoyalFan » 13 Jul 2008 11:13

Coventry midfielder Jay Tabb is being tracked by QPR and Reading. (The People)

Coventry midfield man Jay Tabb is a target for QPR and Reading.

Tabb, 24, has only a year to run on his Sky Blues deal and has not been offered a new contract, despite being named as their player of the year last term.

Former Coventry boss Iain Dowie wants to sign Tabb for QPR, while Reading chief Steve Coppell has also been monitoring the player.

Apparently we're being linked to Michael Mifsud as well. According to Cov fans anyway.

This is probably an old story from last year.

Coppell said we looked at him when he was a freebie but didn't bother signing him and so his comment was something along the lines of "why would I want to pay for him now?"

Don't worry about it, that rumour is 12 months old from when he was a free transfer. He would now command a sizable transfer fee and one we wont stretch too.

Hardly th emost coherent rumour though - on a par with someone reading something on HNA and deciding it's a 'fact' !

A rehashed one, yes.

We were rumoured to be interested last summer when he was a free transfer but we decided against it. He then went on to do well for Championship Coventry and suddenly there was talks of him being worth £5m which is still ludicrous.

Coventry would want at least £2m for him and that is to much still, and above what we would pay outside the top flight...IMO.

So if I were to start a thread linking us to Gar McSheffery, it'd be a new rumour?

Just a rehash of an old rumour that was probably a load of cobblers when it first emerged about 3 years ago.

RUMOUR - Jay Tabb

The Mirror is claiming we will bid £250k for the Coventry midfielder.

Wasn't this story running in the EP or even started on HNA??

Ex Brentford so who knows but the price looks low.

This kind of transfer talk just doesn't excite me......especially when our rivals are talking about £4m signings
