Neil Warnock's Sense Of Humour

by Cookie » 01 Sep 2008 18:53

Then I had a letter from a referees' assessor. It told me we should have had a penalty in a recent match after all, one which would have changed the game. As you can imagine, that cheered me up no end.

And now I'm off to Reading, where, as some of you will recall, I've some great mates and am really popular.

I think Reading have one of the best squads in the Championship and will be very close to automatic promotion. I suppose we could have picked an easier place to travel, when, at the time of writing, we haven't signed a striker and haven't scored a goal, but that is what makes football so interesting.

I actually like Colin. You know where you stand with him and doesn't speak in metaphors. Shows passion on the touchline and has a knack of getting teams promoted. The fact that he recognises

Warnock is a true gem. There are times when he annoys the hell out of me, but on the whole I like the guy. He has a dry sense of humour, cares passionately about his team, and the game as a whole, and doesn't take himself too seriously. We could do with a few more characters like him in the game.
Warnock - from the Brian Clough school of diplomacy

Agreed. A good manager and one I would like on our touchline one day, although isn't Palace supposedly his 'last' job?

He's been on our touchline every year now for the last four or five years? Did you not notice? Wally did.

Definately less odious now and a lot more rational. He's shed a lot of the unpleasantness now that he's no longer managing the team he supports which was probably the reason behind him being such a cock at Sheffield Utd.

I loved it when he had a decision go against him, and sky would catch him just as he came off the pitch, show him it again on tv, and ask his opinion.

i loved it that despite losing 3 matches, and drawing one, aganst us, and going up double figure points ahead of his team
he still went on to assert that sheff utd were still the better team
like the blinkered fan that he was

id respect him if he didnt hate us as a club for no reason, and i didnt hate him so much myself.

I recently read his book "Made in Sheffield" and in that he makes it clear that he has no problem with Reading only with Wally. In fact he praises the club and Steve Coppell for what they have achieved. The book is a great read and has some very amusing anecdotes about him and Wally.
