John 3:16 If he had he'd have noticed that it was a foul throw. Foot clearly across the line. The touchline belongs to the pitch, so even if you are just touching it, you are on the pitch... which of course you can't be for a throw in.

That is 100% wrong !

As long as some part of each foot is on or behind the touchline it's a legal throw

Well John 3:16 is definitely wrong (that's not intended as a theological statement....) and Sun Tzu may be right but the statement's ambiguous so I can't be certain. Careers in football punditry beckon for both of you, with John 3:16 clearly in the lead.
At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower [snip] has part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line

Edit - a dig at the refs BTW

As long as the rest of the conditions are upheld of course...

The standard of referees in the championship is very poor.

Kebe gets a straight red for doing nothing and Jensen the Burnley keeper gives away a penatly and is the last man and does not even get a yellow.

The ball was heading out for a goal kick so the ref didn't see a goal-scoring opportunity. It wasn't an awful decision: you see some goalies get red cards in that situation and sometimes they escape.

With your knowledge of the rules, perhaps a career in football punditry awaits you as well ;)

Not sure that's ambiguity though SCIAG, I only addressed the point John had raised ! You are of course correct though.

Obviously I should have mentioned that terms and conditions apply, that your house is at risk if you fail to make repayments and shares may go up as well as down

The problem is in the Championship, unless it's a tv game, it's all filmed at the one angle. Which doesn't actually show what happened.

Like with Bikey, or Ivar at Bradford a few years back, nothing can be done.

I went to the game with a Barnsley supporting mate. He was in the stand behind the goal. His opinion is that, although it wasn't violent, from his view it looked like he used his elbow. I can take this two ways, he's a Barnsley fan and would say that, but on the other hand, he's pretty fair minded and not the sort to make more of it than there was. Silly and avoidable sending off. What I would say though is that we played a hell of a lot better with 10 men.

I was talking today to someone from Barnsley - he says that the consensus from where he was sat was that Barnsley player had a pop at Kebe first and the ref only saw Kebe retaliating/shrugging him off.

Jackson Corner If that's classed as violent conduct then god help us. If rugby implied the same level for violent conduct the game would end up 5 a side!

That isn't a very good argument is it now? I mean, if boxing applied the same rules as football there wouldn't be much punching would there - and that would just be plain silly! This isn't rugby it is football
