Snowball Palace haven't done that badly versus 7 of the top 8 teams

W2 D3 L2 4-5

0-1 Wolves
0-2 Cardiff

0-0 Reading
0-0 Birmingham
0-0 Burnley

2-1 Preston
2-1 Swansea

Past performance isn't necessarily indicative of future results, of course. In fact, this season in this division it's amost impossible to predict what might happen next.

They may have done ok in their games against those teams, but their recent form is not good. It's not especially good recently at home either.

Whereas Sheff have good form in general and good away form recently. Last game of the season can throw up strange results, but it is foolish to expect anything other than a Sheffield win IMO.

Reading 1 Jasper Carrot 0
Palace 0 Sheff Utd 2

I can cope with the likely disappointment, it's the hope I can't stand...

Mildly confident we will overcome the Brum 3-1 written all over it.
I have major worries about Palarse being even more weighed down with their holiday brochures than Reading have appeared to be since Xmas.
It`ll be what it`ll be and whilst obviously i`d love to hear Palace are doing the biz the bookies arnt far wrong making Sheff Utd hot favourites to win at Palarse.
As mentioned earlier in thread this is something of an unexpected bonus thriller potentially and its gonna be an interesting sunday afternoon for sure.
Lets hope to see pix of Mr Mad drapped in scarves and Sir Steve, kits etc pledging respective allegances etc etc

After thought: If Palarse do the biz on the blades and we lose to Brum I will be officially well pi$$ed orf.

I'm not convinced Sheff Utd will find it as easy as a lot of people are saying. Remember, Palace have had nothing to play for for ages and have been playing kids for weeks but have held us and Brum recently and only lost to Wolves to a really dodgy pen.

I'm going for 1 - 1 in that game

we'll win 2-0 - Brum have bottled it and the managers and players know it.

I hardly dare look!

I can't help feeling Palace will do their bit and we won't

Reading 0 Brum 1
Palace 2 Sheff Utd 2

We will have most of the ball but create little, Brum will have their one chance and take it

Really hope I am wrong. This is a second chance we really shouldn't have had and I would like to think we will play without fear!

Colin on BBCRB made all the right noises but....Sheffield United have only lost 1 in 20, Palace will go a goal behind and think "why bother now..."

Just seen Warnock on Sky saying how let down he has been in the past by managers playing weakened sides (probably referring to Liverpool loosing at Fulham the other year when Sheff U went down) and how he would never do that - there's no way Palace will lay down and die.

They didn't lay down when they were 2-1 down at Bramhall Lane. Injury time equaliser....Cue the foundations of the Mad Stad shaking.

It is up to us to do our bit, and that is the bit that worries me most. I hope it does not turn out to be a disappointing damp squib, where to quote the great man "...both teams wanted it so much, they could not get the ball in the net..."

Archie's penalty Reading 21 Brum 0

Mcleish gradually gets more and more red and eventually explodes...

Palace 5 Sheffield United 0

Warnock has the biggest ever grin in the history of mankind on his face. Final whistle blows and he realises he has allowed Reading to go up. He decides to resign from his job at Palace...

...and take up the offer of manager at Reading after Sir Steve's retirement.

Heartwise I'd love us to do it and with an improved surface who knows?

However, headwise, I reckon we'll draw with Brummage (1-1ish) and to be honest Warnock and Jordan can spout as many platitudes as they like. As in "we'll give it our best shot" and "we've lacked a scoring forward all season". Sheff U know what they've got to do. They also know that both us and Brummage will be out to cut each other's throats. Thereby leaving them with a clear mission.
