New Signings ?

by Franchise FC » 08 Jun 2009 15:35

I'm at a bit of a loss.

With Copps we always knew his targets would be players he's worked with before, but Buck has no 'form'.

Makes guessing at targets a bit more of a lottery.

Wouldn't suppose they'd be too much IN activity in the next few weeks, a new manager would probably want to at least wait until pre season training starts as to assess what he has available.

May be a few OUTS though!

What Rodger's really has to do is break from the Coppell routine of signing players who are not as good as what you already have.

The problem we really have, is he's gonna have to wait to see who comes in for the players we alrady have. Teams know the likes of Doyle, SHunt, Harper will be avaliable at not too expensive prices and will be in no hurry to take them off us. We sell Doyle our priority becomes a striker to score 20 goals, we sell Hunt, we have to find someone else to re tarmac the Mad Stad carpark. Well you get my point?

5 - 6 new faces, plus Henry, Jem and Pearce to really push on.

How on earth do you justify that?

In that case we shouldn't have ever bought Doyle, Hunt, Sonko or Kitson. Or doesn't buying players with potential that can be developed fit into this rule?

I think he means John Halls, Greg Halford, Alan Bennett and Duberry.

Made those signings a long time ago though.

In the last few years I can't think of many players who have come in and improved the side significantly and that inadvertently leads to a side going backwards. I just think we need a change to freshen it all up a touch. Nothing massive, just a few new faces who can improve us.

I agree with SKDD in all honesty, we had a big squad of average players last year. At hardly any point did Coppell know exactly what his best team was which is why along with a few injuries it kept changing all the time. If you sign someone unless it's a young player with potential it should be for players better than what you have.

It's good to see Reading aspiring to these types of players.

Yes its good to see us looking around but I believe we just arent ambitious enough. On the market there are many, many great players who could potentially come to the Royals on loan with potentially a view to perm after. You see the likes of Freddie Sear going to Sheff Wed or Palace???? and think why the hell havent we put out name forward to take him what a fantastic talent. What about Jason Scotland - Reading are a bigger club with what I believe are better opportunities and lets face it if Doyle goes, can we really rely on Long & NHunt to fire us forward into the prem?????.

We may also have a GK problem soon and rumour has it City are looking to send young Joe Hart to the championship for a year to give him the regular footie he requires. Now if I know that then the RFC staff def do!!!!

We just dont put our name into the pot for better things. Yes Harding is a good player but hardly top 3 quality shouldnt we want more (No-one would have ever heard of Harding before he came to us)??
I believe we have become too used to getting lucky with the likes of Hunt, Doyle, Kitson, Sidwell on the cheap and the Mad man must think why bother spending the money when we havent needed to in the past. My point is that that was what coppell SSC was good at (e.g. Ian Wright etc) however he is gone and my fear is that we will still try the same old same old to our peril.

Sorry to be negative but the facts dont lie!!!
