Top 3 Reading goals ever

by URZZ » 11 Sep 2009 19:10

I can't find a clip of it on youtube, but it was the first home game of the 2003/04 season.

Reading had a corner, Sidwell was standing a good 25 yds out. Watson took the corner, and played a tidy chip which just fell right in front of Sidwell so neatly, and Sidwell smashed the ball with a volley.

Second goal

Third goal
Reading vs Norwich
Convey...

What're yours?

Robin Friday v Tranmere '76
Jimmy Quinn v Bournemouth '93 (his second)
Jimmy Quinn v Exeter '93

Actually you can pick a lot of Jimmy Quinn's goals. He did not get tap-ins.

You'd struggle to beat Jimmy Quinn's against Wolves in 96. last home game to stay up. Flicked it up and smashed it over his shoulder from somewhere near the touchline into the top corner.

Obviously people who are old enough to remeber the Friday goal will say that, but youd have to be over 45 to have any chance of remembering it. whose to say we didnt score a better one in the 105 years prior to that?

Not too many great goals at the Mad Stad to be honest.

1. Quinn v Wolves
2. Lambert v Forest
3. Mick Tait v ? c.1990. Sure he scored from the half way line.

James Lambert from 35 yards against Huddersfield(?), can't remember year.
Nogan against Bolton in the play-offs final.
Quinn in the 3-1 against Wolves in 96 (or whenever it was!)

I can't think of a recent one straight away! Must be nostalgia. However, the overhead Lita goal vs Palace was pure passion, the Harper goal vs Liverpool and one of Kitson's specials - probably vs Bolton the year we went down.

Simon Osborn at Charlton 94/95 - enough said.
Billy Tightshirt vs Bolton from near the halfway line (Sept 88 ?)
Dylan Kerr at Carrow Road 95/96 - my favourite Kerr goal, just a gentle chipped free kick, we haven't scored one like that for years and years.
