Kebe Vs Gilkes

by statto » 06 Nov 2009 13:14

Who would win a race between the two? I remember Gilkes being well fast and obviously Jim is well fast, but who do you reckon is faster?

Gilkesy would oxf*rd him up.

After 40 yrds Kebe would probably trip himself up anyway.

LOL !

Maybe if it was a race to the bar but Meaker wasn't fast on the pitch. Rougier had a bit of pace.

Kebe would trip over his own feet after 50 yards.

kebe would win a race, gilksey would have , a very marginally better chance of getting a cross in at the end

I suppose you never stood on the Tilehurst End, near the Programme shop.

I did and I still duck whenever I see Gilkes (or even hear his name)

Oh for oxf*rd's sake!!!

Gilkesy came third in the Rumbleows sprint challenge held before a LC Final years ago.

Kebe has trouble standing up.

I'm thinking Kebe might be quicker over a short distance, but Gilkes was fukcing lethal over 60 yards.

Well, yes, but Gilkes got a lot better as he aged, whereas Kebe hasn't improved at all while he's been with us.

Gilkes would have won but was coming back from broken leg and failed to see out the trip.

No-one who saw Gilkes in his pomp could possibly think Kebe is quicker.

Let me spell it out for you you brainless mongtard. Kebe is shit. He is nowhere near as good as Gilkes was. In fact Gilkes on a bad day was a million times better than that useless streak of piss on his best day.

Now crawl back under the rock from whence you came.

HTH

Kebe at his best does a lot more with the ball than Gilkes.

They are in fact totally different.

Gilkes was a sprinter, his main weapon was to start deep, play the ball behind the full back and rely on pure pace to get him there first.

Kebe (frustratingly) hardly ever does that. He tries the more difficult route of keeping the ball at his feet and trying to take it round / through / past defenders. That is much more difficult and not surprisingly he doesn;t always manage to do it ! I would love to see him open his legs and show his class a bit more but full backs these days are much better athletes than they were in Gilksey's day and I'm not sure it would work.

I'd back Gilksey to win a straight race, I actually think kebe might have a bit more about him with the ball though.
