Mooney's Wages....

by working class hero » 12 Dec 2009 16:36

Odd he has not been recalled when he is scoring and we have no cover....

But I have been told [by one who might be ITK] that his contract allows him £12,000 per week. He is [allegedly] our 2nd highest paid player.
When on loan we only pay £7k - the rest being covered by the team playing him. So, we are paying him more not to play than most are getting to actually play.

Could it be true?
In this crazy world it might just be.
Without doubt many will decry this - but the source 'should be good'  , and no one else will have owt but an opinion!

I can't believe he's on more than all but one of Marek, Hunt, Long, Ivar & Mills. No. way.

Can't believe he is on £12k a week at all, De LaCruz was on £11k I seem to recall, and he had Prem experience when he was signed.

Also 2 goals in 8 league games is hardly a stunning return.

I might be ITK.

And I say he's paid 75p per week.

2 world wars, 1 world cup I might be ITK.

And I say he's paid 75p per week.

HOW MUCH?

Keep him out on loan. We can just afford 30p in our present situation.

Right lets bring him back into the fold. With all that first team experience we need him right now.

I don't get why we haven't recalled him - unless there's some clause in his loan that means we can't. I'm sure at the Fans' Forum I remember Rodgers speaking about Mooney in glowing terms and saying he had a future at Reading, but since he's hardly kicked a ball here that doesn't seem the case.

But was BR just going through the motions by saying that anyway. We might never know. I would be surprised if he was recalled back to us in Jan TBH as he still needs more experience sat with Charlton. Is he going to be rated as a player who has only been seen in the CC games. I think i only saw 15 mins of him at the Luton game. Even Long is above him in the pecking order on past reputation alone.

If the £12k a week quoted for Mooney wages is correct Hammond you need to be sacked.

Hammond does the negotiations and the finer details of the transfers, along with the club secretary, but I'm sure the manager would've had the final say on how his wage budget was being spent.

If Coppell hadn't have wanted to sign Mooney (on whatever money he's on, which I don't for one minute think is £12k a week) then I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have happened.

Instead of recalling Mooney we seem to be pinning our hopes on signing an Icelandic striker who was good 4 or 5 years ago but in recent years has been very injury prone. With our presents dearth of stikers surely Mooney was worth a go, at the very least a place on the bench.

I remember someone asking him if Mooney would be playing this season and Rodgers came up with a very curt "no" and moved on to the next question.
