Refwatch: Bristol City v Reading

by Barry the bird boggler » 16 Dec 2009 08:08

Referee

MARK HAYWOOD

Linesmen

O Saliy
AM Turner

4th Official

SJ Phipps

Mr Haywood is in his 4th season on the league list. So far he's done 111 games and dished out 219 yellows and 11 reds (an average of 1.97 yellow and 0.9 red cards a game) in his time which suggests he perhaps only books players as a last resort but when he does watch out!

He has already taken charge of one game this season; the 1-1 with Watford which saw two players booked and one sent off (Nathan Ellington) which nicely kept his average up. The only other Reading game he's done is the 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor in the league last season.

Umm...11 reds in 111 games =/= 0.9 reds a game.

OK, OK so it's 0.09 reds per game..... 0.9 makes it sound more interesting!

-1 out of 10 for this plank and his grey-haired, senile assistant.

Absolutely bloody abysmal. If I ever see this idiot referee another game again, it'll be too soon.

These comments may seem over the top but I struggle to think of a ref this bad and we have had many it seems!
First decision - throw in the wrong way leading to Bristol attack. Then failed to spot handball by Bristol in our area - they nearly score. Penalty must be worst decision of the season at least - a complete joke. And he got no better - what a f**king cu*t

I rarely comment on referee threads - there is nothing we can do to influence their performance after all - but I have to say that the referee yesterday put in a dreadfully fussy display of inept arrogance. Even before the pathetic award of one of the softest penalties I have ever seen (and yes, I have seen it again since) he seemed determind to give Bristol City every generous decision he could. The decision to give a foul against Jimmy Kebe who wriggled he way out of a City sandwich by the touchline for supposed shirt-pulling proved that the linesmen were just as f*cking appaling as theh dickhead with the whistle. Good point for 10-man Reading against 12 man City.

I swear I saw the referee smiling whilst waiting to give Church his second yellow.

Prize cock throughout the game.

Thaumagurist* Wet Sham

Thrilled to see you persisting with this pathetic, childish referencing a mere 6 years after Pardew left.

Thaumagurist* I'm watching the Wet Sham v Chelsea game. I wonder how it is that Simon Church gets booked for standing in front of the advertising board and yet the Wet Sham goalscorer hasn't been booked for stepping up onto the advertising board. I would think that is a little bit more closer to the fans than Simon Church had ever been.

It's dependant on the mood of the ref. It happens. There is no conspiracy with West Ham.
