Ian Royal Can we not sing that please? It's a terrible gob full.

How about

Super, super Bri
Super, super Bri
Super, super Bri
Super Brian McDermott!

And why oh why are people still singing Blue Army like it's a race? Enjoy it and make it last. Sing it that quick and you run out of breath. It's much much more effective slower.

Good to see someone who clearly is/was a fellow chantstarter and who knows the deal.

Super Bri is a good chant that'd work well.

And that Blue Army speed up is just stupid. I've been complaining abotu it for years and years. It was the younger lot who seemed to introduce it - the lot in Madstad in the SouthEast corner IIRC. Those too young to remember the days we used to sing it slowly and powerfully.

Sung slowly and powerfully it'd build up incredible momentum and last for almost half a half sometimes... I remember walking back from Elm Park unable to speak on so many occasions thanks to that chant. So powerufl though it'd make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Any chant sung by opposition fans would fail against this constant droning of blue army and opposition fans woud just give up trying to chant. And you would visibly tell the players would pick up with a constant audible reminder that we're right there behind them. Awesome days, totally missing in recent years.

Now it's sung in a hurry like it's some sort of quick 20 second chant and has almost no effect.

Perhaps that's what we need. Back to our roots as Reading boys supporting our local club, the local way, as we once did. Singing with passion as our total underdogs play out their skins to beat a bigger side. We once againhave a humble team and a humble new apprentice manager (who we should support)... maybe we just need some humility back in the fans and we'll get our passion and hunger back again. and who knows - maybe we'll learn to chant like the old days and actually be player 13 rather than moaning spectators....

LOL Chantstarter? No.
Random shouter who joins in with chants early? Yes

I remember a shit game against Port Vale where Blue Army lasted a good 20 minutes. Sounded excellent.

It's like some people in the South East corner think that because the drummer is in the North East corner he's 'not one of them' so they refuse to sing the chant at his pace, singing it as fast as possible until both chants just disappear into a mess and fizzle out!

Is it me or is the crowd getting progressively worse this season no matter what happens on the pitch??

One win and the whole world gets carried away

Why do Reading fans have to chant the chants at 1,000,000 mph? Sounds retarded! Oh

I think the reason for this being raised is because Ian hasn't been to a game for a bit, not because we won the game!

We haven't had too much of that this season. We kick started it for a while at SU. I think it lasted around 5 minutes before petering out.

Mate you're a good poster, I respect what you say, and I'm still fully with you on the BM issue, as I say at the beginning. I haven't "switched sides" and am certainly not kneejerking to a win. My feelings on the appointment or Madejski haven't changed. But check the forum and you'll also see I said I'd support BM, even before the win.

Whether we like it or not he's the man Madejski has chosen. There's no way he'll be sacked this season and no way we'll get another manager in. We're at a very critical stage in the season and our history right now.

We can moan and boo and not give the team support it deserves... or we can accept that things are the way they are and support the team and our manager 100% and give them the best chance of turning things around. I'm sure you'd be just as delighted as me if he turned out to be another Pardew/McGhee (or even Quinn/Gooding)... so let's help make it happen!

We can make as much noise a we want about the situation with our club after the season has ended - whether we're relegated or not. But for now, for the sake of keeping our team in this division, please join me in fully supporting our new manager!

1) It's a hideous tune
2) You're not 6 anymore
3) I can't see any mature people singing along
4) Doesn't make sense
5) Embarassing if anything and the away fans will rightly take the piss
