The Georgia captain impressed during a four-month loan spell at Madejski Stadium and had made public his desire to stay in Berkshire for next season.

But Royals manager Brian McDermott has conceded that any deal to bring the 28-year-old back to the club looks dead now Rovers have put a six-figure sum on his head.

Wycombe Royal Gunnarsson hasn't actually signed yet.

Indeed, maybe Wimb should amend his post to say that the contracts have been offered....

6 figures means £100,000 < x < £1m. Surely that's not too much to ask for Zurab? I imagine they are looking for about £500k.

Blackburn know we want him and have probably slapped a £500K price tag on him. But this is for a player they say they don't want and is not in their plans.

I agree with the club on this - I think we are right to say no. If someone pays the money, then good luck to the player and Blackburn, but more likely that no one will and then we may still get him on a free in August - when Blackburn will need to get him off their wage bill.

If not we move on and find another good loan signing.

And although utility players Brynjar Gunnarsson, who is also mulling over a new contract, and Kalifa Cisse can also play there if needed, that is far from ideal for a team pushing for promotion.

That's just the point, we aren't a team pushing for promotion, only consolidation! I'm totally fine with this but the press need to get it into their heads that we're more the latter than the former, with a chance of maybe making the play-offs next year.

Why couldn't we go up next season? I believe that our squad is up there with the best in the division and certainly not with the worst, so why not?

Then you're very much mistaken and are set for some more disapointment come next May.

We're a top ten Championship side hoping to reach the play-offs next season, and we wont be more than that without a two decent strikers.
