Valentines Day fixtures

by Forbury Lion » 27 Jul 2016 12:26

Having updated the other half with the football fixtures I'm getting grief about Reading playing at home on Boxing Day, New Years Day and most of all, Valentines Day.

I appreciate there are couples out there who will either both welcome a valentines day fixture or will at least tolerate their other half going to the game instead of doing something romantic together but for those of us who are not in such relationships I wonder if STAR would be willing to voice these concerns with other supporters trusts and hopefully come to an agreement to petition the FA to make valentines day a football free day - at least when it falls mid week.... if not for the fans, do it for the players and their wags.

PS - ITV w@nk w@nk w@nk anyone?

I'm disappointed at both Brentford games being in midweek. The home game on 14th February is particularly irritating. However, the good news is that there is no game at all on New Years Day.

ITV... yes, I sent my ticket for the Swindon game back.

Jeez - it's much cheaper to go out the day before or the day after Valentine's Day anyway - it's so commercialised anyway. Every day is Valentine's Day for me. So I don't mind if Schards goes to a game. We were at the Swindon one - I thoroughly enjoyed it as it happens!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the NYE game against Fulham was changed. Could be wrong.

Ps i'm in exactly the same boat right now; I've told her inside about the boxing day game, but I'll break valentines day to her nearer the time.

Valentines day is a rip off plus most restaurants want you out asap so they can get the next punter in so nice meal on the following friday or saturday night works best.

Of course if you treat her/him like its valentines day every day then the actual day itself doesnt become a problem for any reason

I agree valentines day is a rip off, it's just another day but not everyone feels that way so why not just play the games on the 13th or 15th?
