RG30 Which route did you take when leaving the stadium?

Diagonally across the car park to the steps that lead down to Brook Drive. It's pretty straight from there, through the business park, across Longwater Avenue and then along the path that's behind all the new residential stuff, school etc. It's much closer than I anticipated.

RBC mentioned this is weeks away from opening now. No link, but it was posted on their FB account along with updates on the new swimming pools at Rivermead and East Reading last week I think.

I was going to say how handy that would be, but there's a pool in Green Park already.

This thread started in 2007, and the first post was asking for updates on a project that was due in 2008.

(Just like the Reading (lack-of) Swimming Pool delays), plenty of excuses available to be utilised I’m sure.

TBF, there was a global economic crash in 2008 which we never really recovered from, followed by a global pandemic in 2020 and another economic collapse in 2022. There's been a few decent excuses.

Yeah the train station was always being built to serve the new housing development there. The contractor went bust and house building only started a few years ago. The station was never intended for football fans.

But it wouldn’t have ever been used. As there were no houses there until about 2017/18. The residential side of green park was put on hold.

New timetable coming in 21st May, rumours that GP will open for then, or very shortly after (give the new timetable a week to settle in kind of thing so it's not too much all at once)

Saw the Twitter trailer this morning. Station looks good. What line is it on then, or is it just a shuttle train back and forth to Reading station ?

No bus routes confirmed yet, but you would think one will be provided that will stop near the stadium, preferably 250 Brook drive.

There's already a bus, Greenwave 50, that stops at the bottom of the stadium car park steps on Brook Drive, and goes right around Green Park before heading back to town. They'll probably add in a Green Park station stop when it's open, the road outside it looks like it's designed for a bus stop.

This is the Saturday timetable the outward journey stops at 100 Longwater av, i always stay on till 250 Brook drive on the inbound journey, then it`s just a short walk up the steps and through the carpark.
I`m thinking they may extend the route as you say to take in the station too.
