I suspect the late launch is to coincide with when people are getting excited about the new season again and they're getting more hits on the website, clicks on social media.

I certainly have more interest in the club now than I did a month ago.

Whilst I get the thinking behind a Late launch gets more people excited and therefore more likely to buy.

You can probably count on one hand the amount of shirts the club has sold since the last game of the season, so there's got to be some merit in an early launch.

Why not release the away shirt in early June and the Home shirt in mid July?

I'm pretty sure we did this in our first year in the prem?

The club does an official announcement on the kit but what tends to happen is that it is not available to buy until about a month later. Therefore if, for some reason, the club don't make an announcement until the end of this moth it'll be late August or September befure us mugs can own one. Certainly that tends to be the case for the away kit anyway - which on occasion appeals more when a complete mess has been made of the home shirt.

Be interesting to see what kit rocks up at Borehamwood on Saturday, presuming at the moment that it will be last year's effort. Could be Bournemouth before there is something revealed.

Way to go Reading, maximise that interest and profit.

Isaac Hunt
WAZZOCK
Kuhl_Runnings But if they start selling the kit earlier they'll sell more, and it'll last longer.

How did you work that one out? It's not as if the delay now is eating into a small window of time, the kit will be on sale for roughly 9 months, meaning anyone who wants one will get one.

Exactly. The club obviously know what number of shirts they sell in average season. How many in the first month of launch, what to expect (approx) in sales at Christmas...then those that wait for the end of season sales.

I'm sure this all contributes to why they choose to release the kit in the way they do and not opt for the big launch via the last home game of the season etc.

A good kit design helps, but ultimately, success on the pitch is better than any marketing strategy.

Maybe I'm a cynic, but something suggests to me that the kit is always late because that's the way we've always done it, rather than being part of a marketing strategy.

Or late because they have the demands of bigger clubs to design and manufacture before little ol' Reading.

Fleetwood and Crawley have theirs. Unless you're trying to say something?

So red pinstripes to the blue hoops. The Thai's are phasing in more red.

Anybody remember Eddie the Eagle?

He was utterly hopeless, but he kept trying with such enthusiasm that you had to almost admire him for it.

Just seen that Chelsea's training kit is sponsored by Caraboa. Is there some sort of link with them?

And we still don't have a clue about next season's kit yet most other teams - including many smaller than us - have had that organised and even able to buy them long ago.

Anyone reckon we'll be able to buy them by the time the actually season starts in 25 days time

I wouldn't want to!

We know the home kit will be a bang average Puma template and the away one will be marginally better but probably a strange colour.

And they will be appalling quality.

Motherwell away

Looks like a possible template, and with the Thai's choice of colours

Disgusting and by no means infeasible. Let's hope not.

(It's also Hearts' kit)
