Just a decent varierty of chants would do, even in the face of those that mock using other clubs songs. Who cares, they too took theirs from other clubs.

I'd particularly like "oh when the Saints/Spurs etc" slowed down to be used. That is a great chant, and you can keep it going too. You don't need an anthem if you can keep people singing decent chants, something we still lack, although it is greatly improved.

This what the club said when i asked if the royals anthem could be played just before kick off.

"Hi Harry, we do try to play it when we can - there's a lot to fit in with Big Bad Wolf and so on but thanks for the support!"

Shocking response as it is not actually even a good excuse. It's easy to play it just before kick off, IF YOU WANT TO. And it makes it sound like the new phenomenon, The Big Bad Wolf, although a decent tune to play, takes precedence over The Reading Anthem, something steeped in far more history.

Thanks for letting me know, and good on you for writing to the club. I'll write to them tomorrow.

No response from STAR to my tweet by the way.

Yeah, and especially as the big bad wolf is just fashionable at at the moment. Maybe the royals anthem would become popular if they actually played when more people than just the ground staff ( basically ) are in there.

The Impossible Dream is perfect, and could so easily be sung on the terraces. Probably to much to ask from the happy clapping spastics in Y25/26 though.

Harry and Divvy, it looks like you might get your wish. Here is the response I got from the club about my request to play The Reading Anthem right before kick off:

Dear Stuart,

Thank you for your email and I apologise for the delay in my response.

We want to continue playing the Impossible Dream before kick off because we have had a habit in the past to change it to frequently before people get to know it and join in.

However I will pass your view points on about the Reading Anthem to see if we can play a bit closer to kick off in the future.

Kind Regards

So, seems like the club want to make the Impossible Dream our anthem.

As long as we never let any of the players choose the music like WBA did yesterday (Ben Foster should have his ears cut off for his own good) then I don't overly care.

Quick, delete delete! If the club see this they might actually use it! LOL

I'm happy with The Impossible Dream as I like the song and it represents where we are now as a club (but would prefer The Reading Anthem).

A healthy load of us in the School End at Loftus Road belting out "So happy together" tonight. I propose we continue that.

Good lad, I'll be chanting it at the Newcastle game. Join in Y26.

I will listen out for it, but since some guy I know has lent me his season ticket in the West stand, it might be a bit futile to join in over there. Do try and keep it going though.
