Should Reading FC have an official anthem?

While searching on youtube I realised we don't have an anthem for Reading FC. Chelsea have "blue is the colour", Manchester United have "glory glory Man United" yet Reading don't have one.

So should we have an anthem? If not, why not? And if we were to have one what sort of lyrics, etc should be included?

For years I've always supported the club song/anthem idea, but nothing ever gets done about it. It gets suggested every couple of years and sometimes we come close to getting one (circa 2005 the club even ran a vote for a club song, "I'm gonna be [500 miles]" by the Proclaimers was the winner, and then it got played for the rest of the season every time London Irish scored a penalty!!)

Basically, it's a nice idea but if we don't adopt "The Impossible Dream" pretty soon, it'll never happen.

The Reading "song" seems to change every year. At present it appears to be "The Big Bad Wolf." I for one think it would be nice to have something more permanent, but recognise a Reading FC anthem is not an easy thing to achieve.

I reckon we should have something by Slowdive; they were local to the Reading area. Nothing like a bit of 90's shoegaze noisepop to get you in the mood.

I assume you mean:

"The trouble is, the club is now full of so many jester hat wearing plastic numptees that haven't even heard of this song. It used to be played before matches, but now it would be pointless."

What an incredibly negative thing to say. I don't understand this abuse of new supporters and labelling them "plastics. " Just seems like friendly fire and sh**ting on your own doorstep to me. And if you want people to know the song we need to PLAY it.
