Sebastian Please explain how they are synonymous.

We are known as either Reading or The Royals - people immediately know who is being to referred to under either name.

So it's like saying our name twice. Combined with the alliteration it just sounds stupid.

Now you mention it, whenever the Queen is on tv I think "that's her from the Reading Family."

There is also a Major League Base Ball team known as the Kansas City Royals

It's already taken. The town's Synchronised Swimming club is called Reading Royals, as is an Ice Hockey team in Reading, Pennsylvania.

As for the Reading Town suggestion, I think you'll find that's taken too.

No Fixed Abode Having just heard Hull City are being rebranded Hull City Tigers. Would you like Reading FC to become Reading Royals?

If AZ (who I still fear has a megalomaniacal streak) or any other faceless foreign owner fancies changing the name of our club then they'll no longer be able to rely on my season ticket money any more.

Double win....

It's a step (admittedly a small one) towards the franchising concept. Describing a club by a name other than its locality slowly breaks down the importance of where it's located and where its community and support is.

QV "Dons" & "Raiders"

I like it. Wouldn't be at all disappointed if it gets changed.

Well yee haw I would gosh darn love it if that commie bastard Americanized our brand. Hell, why not move the franchise somewhere other than Reading so we don't confuse people searching for the our product on google?

Can't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

Biggest problem I see is the spelling, too many people will see it as an advert for books, therefore I propose to "Slade" the club name to Redding (or "redin" to appeal to today's local youngsters a bit more)

I'm sure the Romans spelt it 'Redding' before it was changed later? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a rebranding here and it was already being phased in slowly - Royals. I don't think I'd care too much either as long as it wasn't something ridiculous like 'Hull City Tigers' or as it will be pushed on the continent - Hull Tigers. That's too American, too Rugby, and generally just shit!
