EPR2.0
Christof Provided you don't have Advance tickets (in which case you'd have to get to Bournemouth) walk to Pokesdown (1 mile), catch the same train at 2216

I know Advance Tickets are _very_ specific about the train, and woe-be-tide anybody who gets on the wrong train with one, but does that extend to where you actually get on it as well?

Yep. You have to start at the origin station and finish at the destination station, else the ticket is not valid.

Of course, if they do have an Advance ticket, they might get away with it (especially as somewhere like Pokesdown is probably unmanned, and the guard won't have time to check all tickets in the 4 minutes between Bournemouth and there)... Do they feel lucky?

Booked train - get into Bournemouth at 1410 to give loads of time for drinks.

Last train back at 2216

If you get there early enough Queens Park drive is a good place to park and an easy getaway afterwards.

It's a bit of a walk to the pub though, last time I went to the Sir Percy Florence Shelley (w'spoons) at the end of Ashley road. It was overrun with pissed up pensioners.

Don't think RL's making the trip this time though.

Getting a train ticket to Pokesdown as it's nearly a tenner cheaper than to Bournemouth (and closer to the ground) for some bizarre reason.

From Football Ground Guide:

Around a 10-15 minute walk away is the Sir Percy Florence Wetherspoons outlet on Christchurch Street, in nearby Boscombe. Away fans are welcome at this pub, but no colours are allowed. Next door to Wetherspoons is the Mello Mello bar which also admits away supporters (and with colours). Otherwise alcohol is available to visiting supporters inside the stadium at £3 a pint.

On the off-chance that it might be of some use:

South West Trains Easter Eggstravaganza

A new promo by SWT. £14 return (£5 child) off peak return between most SWT stations valid April 7th to 17th weekdays only. NOT valid Tisbury - Exeter & Warminster - Bristol TM inc. and not valid for Travelcards. Only valid on SWT and Island Line services.

This is an online only promotion and you need to be logged in to the SWT Website to receive marketing related info. IT IS NOT AVAILABLE AT TICKET OFFICES OR TICKET VENDING MACHINES.

So this would be valid for returns from (say) Farnborough or Basingstoke to Bournemouth, but not from Reading. It might still be cheaper than through tickets though.

Although Bournemouth is hardly a hotbed violent crime, any local nutters are likely to be found in Boscombe.
