Although the ticket pricing is fantastic, 2000 for a midweek game that's around a 2 hr drive in rush hour straight from work.. I think anything over 1500 is very good from us anyway.

In x 2.....but was a tough decision after going up to Colchester and then the Leeds game. That was 3.5 hours of boredom.
Can't miss this one though for £12 for 2 tickets and a shortish trip.

£36.10 from London and a 2hr journey home on train.

Negates any saving on the ticket price.

Notice I said 'around', but I'll bite..

Let's say you finish work at 5pm, do you think that it would still take 1 hr 19 minutes to drive ground to ground? If you do then you either;

a. Don't drive so wouldn't know.
b. Drive a motorbike.
c. Are extremely optimistic.

Am I close?

It depends what time you finish work. Not everyone finishes at 5pm. I'm on a day off that day, so I could probably drive there in 1hr 19 minutes if I left home about 4ish in Bracknell.

I will probably do it in less time as I usually undertake, go well over the speed limit and where possible go through red lights and stop signs. Will aim to do the drive in 45 minutes.

If you see my original post it was more in reference to the fact it's a midweek game so a lot of fans will be coming straight from work, and I was using 5pm as an example as a common finishing time.

Also wasn't taking into account people driving like lunatics

Driving into Southsea can be a mare in rush hour, especially on a match day so would advise you leave before 4pm.
As for parking, use the Eastern Road (A2030) into Southsea and then turn left at the lights straight after the Good Companion (Moorings Way) or the next left (Euston Road). All the roads around there are unrestricted.

Any value to parking somewhere like Porchester or Havant and getting the train in for the last bit?

You're right. I drive that route everyday to work and although the traffic is going the other way when I commute back home, it's normally solid and you won't be doing more than 60, if that. The M27 is a busy, busy road.

Not really. If you were to do something like that, your best bet would be to park in Cosham, which is a bit closer to Portsmouth. Mr. Cynical has outlined some good parking options near the ground.

Or d) you have a good understanding with your boss who won't make you take a day off, or work the extra hours and can leave at 4.

Only took 2.5 hours too Colchester from Newbury via the M4/M25.

Thanks, I'll be leaving Wokingham at about 5pm so hoping that will be sufficient to get down in time.

Tickets purchased for myself and other half.

If you are looking to park near the ground, the roads south of Goldsmith avenue running east- west are not time restricted....but will fill up fast after 17.00 with people returning from work. There is some parking available for a few quid at a nearby school just as you come off the eastern road which should be signposted.

The main club carpark has just had a tesco built on top of it, so no idea how that has affected where the Pompey fans now choose to park.

If you can avoid making the trip by car its probably for the best. I don't think the park and ride on the M275 even services the football. Which seems crazy to me....

I think it is reserved seating although if we have a lot of unsold tickets, we may just get told we can sit where we like.

What's the chances of getting a fine if I was to park in the Mcdonalds/B&Q area opposite the stadium?

Probably slim if you bought a few bags of sand, some power tools and a new kitchen. Or a Big Mac.
