Music at the ground

by Royal Lady » 19 Apr 2017 11:51

What on EARTH is that bloody dirge they play just before the teams come out? Get rid for next season.
Sweet Caroline - the arguments will go on ad nauseum but ffs, the current team have nothing in common with that song. Can't we have a poll organised by the club for a proper club song/anthem and stick to that each season?

Thanks for listening.

Same music they've played all season, and really if thats the most that people can find to moan about, then there's probably bigger concerns.

I'm not too mad on 'Insomnia' being played as they come out - decent tune in its time but sounds very tinny over the speakers, but I quite like the music they play in the 5 mins or so before they come out. No fan of Sweet Caroline, but not that bothered by it either.

Get ashes back

RL - I had the same issue with Sweet Caroline - a dire song. But apparently someone told me the players (yea the current players) chose it or were happy to stick with it.

Wasn't there some kind of poll/vote thing between Ashes and Sweet Caroline last season, and Sweet Caroline won?

No fan of it, but where's an alternative going to come from? At least there's some kind of interaction (cheesy as it is) with the crowd with SC, but there's nothing with Ashes, nobody seems to sing it. That's all they are looking for - some kind of a song that could be played in Wembley (for whatever big occasion might arise!) that hasn't been blindly picked for the occasion - it's been done before, and that the fans might actually respond to.

What song was played for the last playoffs?

I have no idea what that is. When was it last played?

It's hard to describe really

It kinda goes: do do do duhhhdodo da do daa da na na, da da-da da da doo duh do da da da da. That's the main chorus

They did ask fans and Sweet Caroline was chosen, about 2/3 years ago.

I personally think those 10/15 minutes before kick off get it pretty much spot on. It's consistent from week to week, and evokes decent memories of a very good season.

Crack on imo

When they asked fans it was actually Ashes that came out on top and they did use that for a while before changing to the runner up Sweet Caroline. Here is the result from the OS

Whilst we cannot control what happens on the pitch, we are always striving to improve your experience off it, and as such we will be acting upon the key features of your feedback. You may have already noticed, but we have taken on your feedback in regards to choosing a ‘fan anthem’ for the Football Club. From the results, the Royals Anthem, Ashes and Sweet Caroline were overwhelming favourites amongst our supporters, and off the back of voting we put those three to a fans in a poll - with Ashes of course coming out on top.

Not particularly stirring or memorable any of it really.

Personally would have the teams come out to the march from Things to Come

And I'd look to replace Sweet Caroline with a "club song" but that song 100% HAS to come from the fans in the same way Delilah came from Stoke supporters and YNWA from Liverpool etc.

And as for the nondescript awful goal music - just stop playing it altogether and let fans celebrate, something I'm sure they can manage to do without the need for any direction.

do they play music when they score? hadn't even noticed.

I genuinely think the music is pretty good in the lead up to the start - not sure what they could have that is better. Certainly rather that than some generic 'chart' nonsense

bobby1413 Why not our club anthem?

I thought NSC had the legal rights to that song?

I can live with Sweet Caroline but what the hell is that horrible noise that ends "I will NOT lose" that they play every game about 10 mins before kick off.

Absolutely dire and has me, literally, covering my ears. Worse than the siren

Forget the music.

They seriously need to sort the microphone/speaker system out.

The distortion is really annoying when they're no speech but the mic is left on and sounds like it's being rubbed against something.

Do they play music? I'm too busy trying to get one more overpriced pint of Amstel down my neck!

No offence but you sound like a real alcoholic.

Anyway if you're whining about over priced I usually smuggle in beer in a hidden vessel disguised as an umbrella. They're on eBay. That + a few cans at home sees me through till dinner time

My favourite bit is where the PA system goes wrong and crackles loudly every game giving half the stadium an instant headache
