I don't like it.

I preferred the old one.

It was quite clear that the shift in audiences from desktop to mobile in this day and age made the need for a mobile-responsive site almost essential. Interesting to see they aren't using AMP within their pages, something which the latest Google algorithm will almost certainly rank sites higher for having.

Shame that the club shop hasn't yet been migrated to this new template. I wonder if that's something we can expect in the near future?

Not sure that the site's aim is to be found high up on Google rankings, as other commercial sites might desire. In any case there seems to be some disquiet about using AMP ( https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/05/1 ... d_bad_bad/ )

Really useful that mate, cheers.

It looks like they've stripped out Bootstrap CSS and put it in their own custom stylesheet. Not quite sure why they've done that?

Me too. The mobile one does view better, but on a 13" laptop it's not good; I hardly get the opening front page pic on the depth of the screen and having to keep scrolling down to see what else is available rather than the slideshow moving across, which you could click to open is not good either.

As they say 'if it ain't broke, why fix it'. They could have spent that money on 30 minutes of a new striker's pay cheque. :D

In the style of Brendan vs. Dellor:
"You thought this is worse than the old one...? You are not a supporter of this club"

The last was poor, this one is much improved. Might even bookmark it now!

Much better.

The last one was like a minefield.

Without the explosions, of course.

This is still the generic website rolled out to most Football League clubs. We've been tied to that forever. When can we, if we want to, break away from it?

I would imagine if you are a big enough club to warrant employing your own web developers, to develop a unique site, it would be worth the investment.

However, if we can get a functional site for cheaper than it would cost to create our own, then why would you bother?
Of the things I would like the club to spend money on, this is somewhere towards the lower end.

Obviously though, if the generic website is truly dreadful, like it used to be, and there was no sign of it improving, you might want to start going it alone

No Fixed Abode

The old one was awful. It was poorly designed.

Tickets - click on tickets, oh you need to go to Reading FC Direct . Why not just simplify it? Well hopefully they have now.

Edit* Nope it's still the same. Click on tickets for Gillingham then it says:-

How to Buy

Online: visit www.readingfcdirect.co.uk

so you click on the link thinking it'll take you to the page for Gillingham tickets but it just takes you to another main menu page. Then you have to click on Match tickets and choose Gillingham tickets again.
