The Enfield Royal71 Why?

personal circumstances mainly, but I gave in to them without a fight as I can't really be arsed. Also think we are likely in for another struggle (though it's early summer right now and things can change obv)

Idk - The general atmosphere around the club feels a little different now. There's no longer (or I hope not) a section of the fans that believe we're good enough for anything other than surviving in the league; we're all pretty united in our low expectations and understanding of the battle we face. Most of our financial problems are seen as the fault of the previous management and that the owners now just doing the best they can to deal with the aftermath and stay within FFP.

So less bitching and moaning - we are where we are and we just need to get on with it. I have no problem supporting a team that isn't winning or playing great football ,as long as their some feeling of togetherness and loyalty among the fans and trust in the club.

+1
Just moved our two ST to Y23, and will try more than the pathetic 4 away games last year. We all support differently, but to only turn up when the team is successful is my definition of a plastic.

Winston Biscuit I have officially not renewed. First time I have not had a ST in many years

It’s been a slog in recent years hasn’t it. I feel more positive about this season though so was happy to renew.

I keep coming back to this stat when I think about how hard work it's been in recent years.

Reading FC Home League Wins
18/19: 8 - 35%
17/18: 5 - 22%
16/17: 16 - 70%
15/16: 8 - 35%
14/15: 8 - 35%
13/14: 8 - 35%
12/13: 4 - 22%

In the last seven years we've played 157 home league games and we've won 57 (36%)

Exclude the PO year and that's just 31%. You've got to be targeting at least 50% win rate at home surely. No wonder people are naffed off and struggling if only a third of the games they see are victories.

Yep it’s been a bit grim. If we have another season of dismal performances I may well do a Winston.

I was convinced I'd only renew if we got relegated. But <£300 is just too good value not to give it another go. If it's shit I can always just not go and save 3 or 4 times that on train fare alone.

If we went down I may well of renewed tbh. It was the staying up just for another slog at avoiding relegation that meant I put up no fight to get one

I can relate. I was pretty close to that.

Come and sit with me and my lad in the ED Stand. I will sort your politics out inside the 19=20 season.

Careful, DD will be begging you to sit with him. Unless he is going to FGR, or not? I don't know anymore.

This. When you have expensive players and a very strong squad, you expect success with results. But this squad is full of young players right now - IIRC the oldest player out of 22 on Saturday was 26 so it may end up being a struggle at times. As long as there's unity in the squad and everyone gives 100% with full commitment, there'll be no need to get on the backs of them

Jeez, that's atrocious

Credit to Stam for the anomaly, but even then people were naffed off out of boredom

Surprised at 13/14 when we just missed out on POs and had some big wins that season like Blackpool and Bolton.

One of the factors in the Adkins hate. We picked up a lot of our points away, so the majority rarely saw us perform = quicker to get on his back when we slumped the next season (because Anton shafted him and he couldn't make any genuine signings).

Similar to people turning on Stam quite quickly. We won a lot of games at home but they were largely quite turgid performances that could easily have gone the other way. So patience limited.

I know what you’re saying but I was there when we got dicked at Brum before he got sacked, and I certainly didn’t feel very sorry for him.

I feel sorry for any manager taking over from a legend and then getting bent over by an owner with no money.

Don't expect you to remember getting stuffed fondly though. I doubt there was any way back for him, but it's not like we haven't lurched from disaster to disaster since. And done far worse with mucher greater investment *coughClarkeStamClement*

Adkins was shafted. With decent financial backing he would have been fine. His track record is impressive.

Yeah that’s 100% fair. It’s been pretty bloody poor hasn’t it, it’s a miracle we have any fans left at all  as you say, even our playoff season was weirdly dull.
