Crowds

Really enjoying this season, 4 home wins atmosphere etc but crowds are low, how do the club get them back ? Prices are some of the lowest in the division. We should be getting 15000 every week at least .

Keep winning games !
But also we’ve had a Sunday midday ko, 2 games on train strike days , and an evening ko all in the summer when things are traditionally down.

Individual match price tickets for adults are £29 which won’t exactly encourage the casual supporter.

Attendances also aren’t likely improve suddenly either with the the Sunderland and Norwich games being on the telly.

How much do we get paid by Sky for a televised game?

You can get match tickets a lot cheaper than that (£22). The people the club need to be getting back are those who have got out of the habit in the last few years. I’d be hammering the mailing lists of people who haven’t renewed ST or haven’t used their member cards for a while.

Would expect to see bigger crowds for the next non televised games

Suppose part of the problem with the constant downplaying our chances by Ince - right thing for the team spirit but doesn’t necessarily attract the wavering fan

I'm a classic example as a former ST holder until the first COVID impacted season. Just really out of the habit of going and don't really look at the fixture list before planning to do things at weekends. Still get regularly mailed by the club but doesn't really seem to consider more than the next game ahead (with emails being 2-4 days before hand perhaps)?

Kind of now in the realm of going when I've got nothing better to do on a Saturday (and for some reason I can never seem to make Wednesday midweek games versus Tuesday ones)

Whack this in here -

Bristol City have sold out their allocation - so a large number are registering for Member status to get tickets in the home end. Not sure if its a new thing and probably learning from that QPR debacle but they are now asking for 25 points on member card before able to purchase for this fixture.

Gonna be looking suspiciously at anyone with a funny accent. Although being in Y20 I would expect them to pick somewhere closer to the away contingent.

Yes, I believe the 25 point purchase thing has been in for a little while on big games - can see the sense in it, tbh.

Anyone just registering so having no purchase history will probably not get a ticket unless they have an RG postcode and even then they might struggle.
The QPR situation happened because there are a fair few QPR fans who have escaped the slums and live in this part of the world so have local addresses. ProbBly not so many Bristolians round here...

And this is the downside of having Club1871 where they are currently based. We don’t have the fanbase to constantly sell out 22k tickets in the Championship.

However the counter to this is that there aren’t many fan bases who would take 4k to us. Probably 5 or 6?

Why not sell tickets cheaper, sell more of them make similar revenue yet have higher attendances, higher secondary spend and also engage more people to the world of RFC

Something to possibly ponder going forward:

https://twitter.com/MattHughesDM/status/1579951588927410176

EFL consider ending 3pm Saturday blackout and making every game available for broadcast from 2024-25. Tender documents due out in next 24 hours call for a new approach and will target streaming giants.

Personally, it wouldn't impact me going to home games as I will still go to all, as a ST holder. Currently pick and choose away games as it is, so I don't think that would change, but I would be very keen in watching those I don't go to, without trying to find a dodgy stream.

Anyone get caught up in the turnstiles debacle yesterday? Wasn't exactly a massive crowd yet queues were hundreds deep right on kick off.

Yes! Gate 7, missed the first few mins. The readers seemed to be taking longer to scan the tickets - I did also note a few people using mobile tickets, wonder if this had anything to do with it.

Why anyone insists on mobile tickets or print at home when we have a perfectly working member card scheme in place I don't know.

Same. Lady Hendo sometimes comes with me and I did think about doing a mobile ticket for her last time she came, but I keep the member card in my wallet always and she's never going to go without me so makes no sense.
