Cardiff Away Moved to 8:00 on a Friday

by 72 bus » 10 Jan 2023 11:22

Some fukwit at Sky thought it a good idea to move the Cardiff game to 8:00 on a friday , never mind that there are no trains back to Reading after the game.
What planet are these clowns on ?

Well I suppose you could always drive but then you cannot have a decent drink, where's the fun in that.

Cardiff famously have no hotels either.

A room in a Premier Inn centre of Cardiff is over £100. Nobody is saying this isn't doable - but for some what would have been a perfectly manageable day trip on a Saturday becomes an expensive pain in the neck on a Friday night.

A train ticket between Reading and Cardiff is £75 each.

If you're sharing a Premier Inn room with someone, that only works out at £50 each.

TV companies and football clubs in "not giving a flying one about match-going supporters" shocker!

I'm with Hendo here. Make a weekend of it.

Although I do have some sympathy for the OP, even with an overnight stay you're looking at seriously reduced drinking time even if you can knock off work early of a Friday.

I'd already planned to make a weekend of it. Based on a Saturday game.

Just finalised arrangements for two nights out in Cardiff the day before it was moved. It's all oxf*rd up now.

Still going to Cardiff but can't fit the game in now. Probably no great loss given our tv form...

Actually you can get two advance singles (i.e., there and back), certainly on a Saturday, for £40. Not sure what point you're trying to make here

Admittedly I didn’t put loads of work into it and just looked at the normal return prices on a Saturday, which are £75.60 so for those who might not be as clued up on how to get cheaper train travel would suffer.

As Green said, make a weekend of it. Cardiff has some great pubs and the castle is pretty neat.

Just trying to provide some balance to all the doom and gloom.

How much for the time machine to take you back the 21 years to when the supporters club was disbanded and replaced by a supporters' trust?

Can't believe how much abuse the OP is getting.

The OP is correct, football matches should not be rescheduled to disenfranchise the match going fan who wants to use public transport.

Bonkers that people think otherwise.

Yep

Although I'm not sure if anyone's disagreeing. Just trying to find ways round it.

In my case that's unfortunately not possible so I'll be missing out
