Pitch dug up today!

by Jay » 26 May 2006 10:30

According to Martin Tyler last night.

A new pitch for the biggest season in the clubs history!

I thought the pitch looked good last night. Maybe it needs that splastic stuff re-seeding? :?

Where can I get a pice or two?

I want to recreate the pitch for my kids to play on. I reckon it will be cheaper than paying premiership prices, only about £1,296,000,000 Bargain!!!

pitch was dug up because they got the soil mixture wrong this year, too much sand thats why it looked shit in march, when normally it looks the buisness by then!! 8)

It's also been dug up because the undersoil heating broke back in March and this is the first opportunity to mend it!

I am pretty sure because of the synthetic fibres in the pitch it can't be cut into turfs and in that case won't be completely dug up.

IIRC the grass has got some sort fungal growth in it and I believe they are going to take it back as far as they can and re-seed it.

Not sure about the under soil heating breaking down, where did that come from?

They had better hope that Thames Water don't apply for a drought order or we could be in deep shyte! Newly sown/laid pitch and no way of watering it whilst it gets established!

The club don't have their own water bore hole do they?

They should be taking water from the roof anyway. I thought most new stadiums did this as a matter of course these days?

Mind you, it's still got to rain once they've relaid the pitch unless they've already got an awful lot of water from the roof stored somewhere.

I heard Mr Mad has been talking to Charlie Dimmock.
He's chosen sandstone paving for the centre circle, decking in each of the goals plus a water feature near the East Stand.

I hope they don't relay it before "Red Hot Chilli Peppers". It would be a waste to have a new pitch and then risk it by letting the crowd trample over it or put boards down onto it.

There's over a month between the RHCP gig and the Feyenoord game, so plenty of time for a new pitch to bed in
