Mexico make it to R16 again - they've been knocked out at this stage at the last 6 World Cups. Likely Brazil for them next, unless Serbia do something special.

As for England, this result means that a runner-up finish in our group would be the 'better' result if Group E pans out as you'd expect (which is far to certain at this World Cup!). That would put us on course for Sweden or Switzerland in the QFs, Brazil or Mexico if we were to win the group.

Spain must be looking at this draw and licking their lips - again based on the above, their path to the final would be Russia, Croatia/Denmark, Sweden/Switzerland/England/Belgium/Colombia/Senegal/Japan. In short, the other half of the draw is loaded.

blimey, that was dramatic..........

Obviously very pleased, was fearing for Mexico until South Korea scored.

I actually like Ozil as a player, but he has been awful this season/past 10 days.

What a great day for football!

There are so many things going in England's favour at the moment. It's not actually coming home is it??

They wouldn't want to get their towels dirty.

Updating my own post...

Teams in the top half of the draw - Uruguay, Portugal, France, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico
Teams in the bottom half of the draw - Spain, Russia, Croatia, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland

Group H will provide the only non-European side for the bottom half, but that draw looks great for Spain, and the runner-up in our group.

10 of the 16 teams in the next round will be European, with just 4 going out at the group stage.
