Slightly ridiculous four goals for Suarez today. 3 of them top drawer.

That's 11 goals in 4 games against Norwich for Suarez

Surely Madrid have got to go all out for Suarez in January? Him playing up top with Ronaldo, Bale and Isco behind would make them strong favourites for the CL.

If he stays, I can see his goals being enough to get Liverpool a top four spot given United's failings and Spurs' inconsistency.

Has any individual ever owned a team as much as Suarez does with Norwich?

obviously a slightly different type of 'owning' but I remember Robbie Fowler being top scorer at Filbert Street the season Leicester went down, which made me lol at the time

paultheroyal One of the greatest players to wear the Liverpool shirt?

Definitely one of the 'best', he's in the top handful of players in the world. I'm a bit of a traditionalist though - to be a club 'great', you need more than 100 appearances to your name.

Agree with GN - can see Madrid moving for him in January. Difficult to see why Liverpool would sell though - unless he breaks his leg, he isn't going to be worth any less next summer than he will in January.

I'm not Liverpool-bashing here but 'greats' at a club like that need to have won stuff

Silver Fox Gerrard then?

Definitely a Liverpool 'great'. It's a bit more nuanced than counting trophies, although Gerrard has won everything except the Premier League. A number of seasons he has carried the whole team on his shoulders; add in a first European Cup for a generation and anchoring their midfield for 15 years, home-grown, he's a club legend.

In context he's not really a 'great' of English football (but then arguably English football hasn't produced many such players in the last 10-15 years), although he's certainly been one of its most significant and influential.

Suarez last night, was very reminiscent of Frank Lampards 4 goals plus assists in 2010 v Villa. Only Frank is a midfielder and it was against more established Premier League opposition.

Liverpool fans idolise players way too easily these days. IF Liverpool fail to qualify for the CL, Suarez will be off. So I wouldn't idolise him just yet. You all loved Torres, idolised him, he left to get more success. Liverpool fans got all bitter about it.

I wonder what is more satisfying for a pro footballer - being a superstar in a team that wins things, albeit not all the time, or be a joke in a team that wins things all the time.
