Won't be surprised to see LFC get something outof this

Yeah, if there was a day for Utd to lose 1-6, today seems to be that day!

Said something a couple of weeks back that they don’t look anywhere near as good as last season

They were still grinding out results but looked so shaky defensively, Gomez and Van Dijk started dreadfully this season

Title looks like it could be anyone’s (other than United)

Has Richard Keys suggested they get Allardyce in yet?

This isn't just for Liverpool but probably a lot of teams, the lack of a proper pre season and the condensed games has deffo had a major impact on teams and scoreline this season.

I reckon Utd and Liverpool need to tighten up a bit at the back!

Have any of you older folk ever seen the English champions lose this badly before? I can’t quite believe that.

There's a whiff of match fixing the way Liverpool defended that.

They basically committed suicide.

Have teams sussed out the high line tactically? Both United and Liverpool were completely rinsed on the counter today. City last week too.

Adrian was poor again.

They really need a quality backup keeper.

The problem is these big teams have too many deficiencies in defence, Gomez, Stones, Mendy, Maguire, Lindelof etc etc

Means when you stick a quick attacker next to their line, the defence are always in trouble. Players like Vardy, Antonio, Saint Maximin, Traore will always wreak havoc against such a high line

Obviously didn’t seem much of an issue last year but when you factor in no crowds to egg you on etc, more key players missing to injuries/Covid, it all sort of adds up and makes sense

Have to agree with the MotD analysis.

Wasn't so much the high line that was dangerous, it was the lack of pressure on the ball to give time to play the right pass in behind.

Plus Liverpoop regularly had their deepest defender nowhere near the pacey dangerman.

There was one break where it looked something like this at the halfway line ffs

Switch it to this and there's far less problem.

Fair play to Klopp, smiling at how bad it was and how Villa put them to the sword, then congratulating Villa with a wow. Should have put a fix in by at least HT though.

Before the restart last season, Gomez and Van Dijk had conceded just 6 goals in 16 games playing together - so whilst Gomez was awful last night, and has been since that restart, I think 'not good enough' is somewhat of a knee-jerk reaction.

Such an odd couple of results yesterday. United at least had the 'excuse' of being a man short, but they were a shambles before Martial's red anyway.

They have not been right since that Watford defeat. I dont understand why pundits and the like are not picking up on it - form since that game has been pretty shoddy for "champions".

Think Liverpool are one of the clubs who will be adversely affected by the lack of crowd. As much as I cannot stand their scumbag supporters they are a 12th man for them, especially at home.

I don't think it's true that pundits aren't picking up on Liverpool's defensive frailties since the restart, it has been a pretty common theme of discussion.

It's also the case that since that Watford defeat, Liverpool have nine league wins, two draws and three defeats, which is a pretty decent record for a 'shoddy' team.

Maybe. But they have won six and drawn one at Anfield with no fans, scoring 24 goals - so far at least one of the clubs not suffering at home.
