:? :? So if the nett spend over the last 4 windows is £30m, can we assume the owners are fed up of spunking huge sums on shit?

Once again, the striking thing there is Liverpool have the 6th lowest nett spend.

Didn't know Brighton's nett spend was that high either.

indeed. It's been mentioned before, but Coutinho = Alisson and Van Dijk looks like the best bit of business in Premier League history for the impact of the signings on the team. And Kevin Stewart = Andy Robertson.

As also noted before, they keep getting dolla for average players - like the £19m Bournemouth paid for Dominic Solanke, who still hasn't scored a league goal for the club, and only got one for Liverpool. In fact he has bizarre career stats - just eight career club goals, but nine for England U21s, and ten for the U20s.

Genuinely think you'd be nowhere near where you are right now without VVD...amazing signing!

Brentford have a similar data-based recruiting system as Liverpool...Utd are considering Cavani who has had 4 separate injuries in the last 5 months, stats padding in the French league (equiv Rangers or Celtic in the SPL),he's 33 and never played in the much faster and physical EPL

What the fcuk about all that suggests he will be successful

Indeed. Liverpool's scouting operation is top drawer (headed up by our own Barry Hunter, which having spoken to him a couple of times frankly amazes me!). When they signed Mo Salah, there was hardly a host of clubs queuing up for him, likewise Firmino. Wijnaldum thought in most circles nothing more than slightly better than his relegated Newcastle teammates. And so on.

It's the way Liverpool have operated since Fenway Sports took ownership. It's a cliche to say "Moneyball" but that's what it is.

Barry Hunter is not the guy running the models that identify players

How the oxf*rd are the scousers unbeaten.
They are surely only getting home due to the failings of others. Manure, Man City, Spurs , Arsenal etc.

When you have teams like Leicester, Wolves and Sheffield Utd up there as well, it says it all.

Personally despite their defeats/draws, Man City are by far the better team and play better football, but aren’t able to grind results out like the scousers

A really weird season

So they're not the better team? Defending is a big part of football, ya know

Since their 4-1 defeat at Spurs near the start of the 17-18 season, Liverpool have lost 4 (FOUR) out of 90 (NINETY, that's NINETY) league games.
But yeah, they are getting there because City and Chelsea are crap.

I'm going to put you in the 'thinks Henderson is crap' bucket.

They have 67 points from 69 - Any other team will have to be going some to even be in touching distance. A "poor" City and Leicester are going at or over 2pts per game.

If City were going at the 2.6pts per game they managed last season, they would still be 5 points adrift with Liverpool having a game in hand.

Liverpool may not always play the best football but their will to win is unmatched this year.

That’s my point ( ignoring the usual clowns on here!)

It seems that Man City aside. All the other “Big six” are going through a transitional period and making it easier for Liverpool to beat them.

Of course they have been lucky with their most influential players being injury free. (To date)
