Royal Rother Stan Collymore and the usually fairly sober Mark Saggers pulling no punches on TalkSport. Blatter's lawyers might be interested in what they've been saying.

They are in no doubt whatsoever that the whole process is corrupt, from start to finish.

How many of those that voted are corrupt? Surely they cannot all be bent?

I imagine most of them are in Blatter's back pocket...

I was acknowledging your comment re: the seemingly biased nature of BBC reporting of which I was drawing my ill informed perception of recent exchanges between Russian/English counterparts.

It is the kind of the reaction I aspect from the typical Anti-English Brigade.

What was that then? And why didn't we have it? Did we know that's what they wanted? I thought ours was supposed to be a good bid.

Let's hope no African teams qualify for 2018!

They're not to keen on blacks in Russia, even more so inside the football stadia

The persecution complex is touching. I don't think most foreign nations really care about the English, much less hate them. Certainly, within Europe there seems to be an understanding that the Inselaffen like to keep to themselves, and there's no great desire to force them to join in. I'd guess that this bid was lost because of the English insistence on playing fair. Any British corruption is strictly confined to an 'old boys network' way of doing things, and that's generally seen as commendable but stupid. The Pole who gets caught speeding will hand over a bribe - the Englishman will insist that his high-ranking uncle will see him out of trouble...

Wycombe Royal I just had a look at the Qatar bid and 6 of the stadiums will be in one city - Doha. Only one other city has a large population. The others are around 30,000 population. That's like Woodley being a host city.

Oh and then there is the other host city that they haven't even built yet - it is still a work in progress but will apparently have a population of around 250k by 2022.

Madness.

Interesting - it looks then like FIFA have broken their own rules (not checked, but quoted on here before) about no more than 2 stadia in the same city!

? how does that equate with my stance that the football world cup has diminished in value due to over exposure and familiarity?

Mr Angry
Russians, Israelis and South Africans are meant to be hideous holiday makers; arrogant and constantly demanding.

agreed, I've met all three over the past few years in the Alps and Greece, really unpleasant (Russian trophy wives are excused, mind).

I was, of course, referring more to your 'no kudos in winning WC' comment. Tell that to the Germans.

Das lohnt sich nicht, die Weltmeisterschaft zu gewinnen.
