Yet again the worlds best team (and they are undoubtedly that) are assisted by the referee. That second goal proves that they can beat anyone so why do they have to be helped by the Ref? Pepe's foot was facing downwards and he clearly won the ball making little, if any contact with Alves yet -not for the first time - a Barca player goes down and roles about like he's been shot (I'm looking at you Busquets and you Pedro).

The game was bad although I'm sure if it was two English teams out there it would've been catergorized as a full blooded encounter with passion and commitment. We expect better from two teams with the sort of players that Madrid and Barca have. The Madrid that play week in week out are a very good attacking unit but they've been told by their manager that the only way they can beat Barca is by using these horrible spoiling tactics. Tbf to them it worked last week and when they tried to play Barca properly earlier this season they got battered but it does make for a bad (but fascinating) game to watch.

I'm wondering what the world record is for most competitive goals scored in a football season. Dixie Dean got 63 in 1927-28 (60 in the league!) which is the British record. I'm guessing Messi might just come up short on that one, currently on 52 with a maximum 7 games to go. But who knows!

Completely overshadows Cristiano Ronaldo who has 'only' 42 goals in 49 games this season.

You have to put a lot of blame on the ref though. Early on the Barca players surround him complaining about the slightest of tackles and from then on everytime they got tackled and fell over he gave a free kick. All that does is reward and encourage diving.

The game was pretty tedious, but a typical Barca game where they keep possession and work really have to get it back when they lose it, then in the final 20mins when everyone's tired of chasing around after them they get their goals.

I hope the card is recinded and Alves is punished for being a cheat.

Why does everyone seem to think Pepe shouldn't have gone? The tackle was high and studs first into Alves' leg. I don't know why there's so much Barca h8 on here? Do people really like Mourinho or something?

My main disappointment from last night was that Busquets didn't manage to pull off another oppo red for broken face

Tails Well thank fukk we don't get the privilege of watching this football week in and week out. Busquets is an embarrassment, Di Maria is a diving Kant. The only thing these teams have mastered is handbags.

So you watch Man Utd and Chelsea every week?
Many divers just amongst those sides in our football including:-
Nani (as bad as Di Maria)
Rooney
Hernandez
Cole
Lampard
Drogba
Need I go on?

GreaterTorontoRoyal 2-0 Messi. Now 11 goals in 11 matches. Took 4 defenders as well, nice goal.

The burst of pace as he went into the box was insane. That was a good goal.

I thought the (double?) stamp after the missed header was more cynical.

I rather like Spanish football - there's a rhythm to it and a sense that it really is all about to kick off any time now.

and to boot he's not a roll around the floor, moaning, pcunt that most skilful players are these days. When he's fouled, he just dusts himself down and gets on with it.

^^^^ This. People shouldn't believe Andy Townsend saying its not a red card. He's yet to learn a single rule change since he stopped playing and I 'm not convinced he had a full grasp of them then either.

Still think Maradonna is better than Messi. Messi needs to have a glorious World Cup finals to overtake him.
