BR2 I don't like seeing the demise of clubs with a history showing that they were once one of the better sides around-I didn't like it when Wolves and Sheff Wed. went down as far as the 4th tier, nor when it happened to Burnley who nearly went out of the league, nor when Villa,Man City and Leeds and Forest went down to the 3rd tier

why? that is just sport

you stop performing at the level you are at then you drop down and someone else performing better than their level moves up.

'greed, fcuk em. their absence means the likes of Reading can play in the Prem and Yeovil in the Championship

When you get old you might feel differently-tradition tends not to be significant when you are young.

History counts for nothing, as far as I'm concerned it's more amusing the more famous the name that's struggling.

That's double nonsense tbf. First off, wanting to save clubs because of tradition is ridiculous, you end up where the current incarnation deserves and secondly what tradition do Portsmouth have? They won the cup before the war and stole it again a few years back. Let 'em die

How many of them do you think will hang around for a prolonged stay in tier 4 / 5?

How long before they default on yet another CVA or new debt and this time get wound up because they have no high profile as a lower league club?

Their fall has been so meteoric the attendances haven't caught up yet. It will soon enough.

Spend a month or two working and listening out in Portsmiff.

They are so fired up/anti Scummer/financially involved (to the tune of £1k each)/passionate

Some of them are even looking forward to trips to Alfreton, Gateshead, Salisbury and Aldershot already

They're just looking forward to winning a game after three years. It's not gone so well in each of the last few.

:D

I'm loving it working there at the moment.

But, you cannot fault their loyalty to the club (not the staff obv)

Agree. But 18000 on the first game dropped to 12000 two games ago

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/coppell-departs-fratton-park-1-5965471

Steve Coppell has followed Richie Barker out of the Fratton Park exit.

The former Crystal Palace boss had been serving as director of football after arriving with Barker in December.

But following the mutually-agreed departure of Pompey’s boss, Coppell has now followed suit.

Assistant manager and goalkeeping coach Anthony Williams today also left as the 109-day regime ended.

Coppell was never contracted to the club and during his time with the Blues claimed only expenses.

I'd genuinely take Pompey going out of the league over England winning the world cup this year.

Why does everyone (at least 2 people here) detest them so much?

Surely not for thinking they were a huge club
Or for spending irresponsibly
Or for not winning a certain game
Or for muggy supporters

... Or else you'd probably detest 90 other clubs too or at least most premier league and failed premier league clubs
