No Fixed Abode Interesting to note

Lampard 93 appearances 26 goals
Gerrard 97 appearances 19 goals

Would be genuinely interested to know how many of those goals were penalties

BR2 and it seems as though Mancini feels the same as Milner hardly ever starts for Man City.

Season - Apps (Sub)

2011-2012 - 25 (8)

There are only 38 games in the season

So he was only dropped for 13 games.........hardly "hardly ever plays for Man City."

ps, what about the 32 the previous season?

Wax Jacket yeah I like Milner, he does work hard, bit short on pace though

Caused some real problems to Ukraine and put in some cracking crosses. Conned a good freekick out of the linesman too.

66% is and I quote "hardly ever starts"? Even if that includes cup games its still got to be about half of them.

I suppose two out of three isn't many either is it you innumerate plank.

I thought City played something like 50 games last season so half is not that great.
Incidentally not many players turn out for 4 different clubs before they reach age 24.
It strikes me that managers think he looks o.k. from afar but when he actually joins a club they realise he isn't that good.

Leeds to Newcastle to Villa to Man City

All a progress in his [10 year] career.

Represented England at every level from U16

Yeah really crap :|

"crap" is your distasteful word not mine-my view of the player is that he is hard-working but slow and without much flair.
BTW for the sake of the maths a player's career doesn't start at 14 (they are still at school then)so we are talking of 4 clubs in 8 years.
Compare:-
Lampard 2 clubs in 15 years
Gerrard 1 club in 14 years
Lescott 3 clubs in 14 years
Jagielka 2 clubs in 10 years
Baines 2 clubs in 10 years
Hart 2 clubs in 7 years
Can you see a pattern emerging?

The pattern I see bar 2 of those players is that they reached a top club and had no need to move. Milner is there now

Milner is 26, his pro career started in 2002 at Leeds, that's 10 years

I really don't see your point!!?

Fact is ALOT of top managers rate Milner and I'd trust their judgement over yours. Reason he plays on the right for England is to support Johnson - who likes to get forward but isnt as strong getting back, the two of them work well together as Milner puts in a shift to get back an defend - a "flair" player won't (as much)

It's also why AOC is playing left side ahead of Walcott

In reply to TBM:-

Take 16 away from 24 (when he moved to City)=8.
4 clubs in 8 years is IMHO quite a lot.
Top managers seem prepared to let him leave after (as I said earlier) they get to see that he is not so good as they first thought.

I think international players should be able to work hard and more.
This may be why England continuously fall short because in this country midfield players are often hard-runners rather than flair players.
We always seem to have to include a Milner and a Barry or similar and sometimes both but gradually with the success of Spain and Barcelona we are seeing clubs looking to copy and I think that's a good thing.
