BR2
Mr Angry I bet both Yossi Benayoun and David Gold were well impressed by their fans...........

That's the lol though isn't it?
I suspect there are just as many Jewish fans from the East End who follow West Ham as there are that follow Spurs.

There are. Except the East End and/or Spurs have very little to do with the Jewish community anymore in terms of representation. There are as many Jewish fans of all other major teams as Spurs. That's the irony - the only connection to the Jewish community is history and what some of their fans call themselves. I agree it's ridiculous that the Society for Black Lawyers were calling for prosecutions of Spurs fans for using the word 'Y*d', but using such language perpetu8s the environment in which this kind of abuse can and does occur. I'd also say pushing the issue of the Y word onto the agenda in such a crass way has sensitised both opposition fans to using it and ourselves to hearing it. This is, of course, not to excuse such behaviour but any kind of abuse is communicative - it has to strike a nerve to function - and this is partly in reaction to Tottenham fans' own (albeit false) self-identification as a 'Jewish' club.

Rumpole I've seen a couple of reports recently of oppo fans 'hissing' to (apparently) 'copy the sound of a gas chamber'. Never, ever, ever have I heard of this before until it appeared in a few articles in the last few weeks. Surely, surely they're just idiot journalists misinterpreting the 'shhhhhhhhhhh' noise that normally follows more noise in a library, etc?

This has been going on for years, most notably West Ham but other fans too.

sorry about the bogroll it's from. Anti-semitic and lazio chants from hammer's fans.

and are you naieve to think that West Ham, are the only club who have a small minority of fans who make offensive and sick chants - any body who takes pleasure or think it's fun to taunt jews about the holocaust are sick and twisted vermin sadly every club has fans like this .

Never quite got Chelsea fans making gas noises at Spurs when Roman Abramovich is Jewish.

Personally I'm absolutely shocked at the 'hissing' from away fans at WHL.

Everyone knows the gas in Auschwitz wasn't piped in under pressure, but introduced in solid pellet form, through holes in the chamber roof, and so wouldn't hiss.

Its a shocking inditement of history and science education in this country.

I think it's a terrible indictment of the British education system that a history teacher can't spell indictment properly when posting a comment on history/history teaching.

It's almost as if they were using the wrong one intentionally.
