This. Whilst I see where Schards is coming from and some of the examples given are great, I'd rather be playing Yeovil at home in November/December when everything has settled down than on the first day of the season when they have momentum (it was effectively their first competitive game since a Wembley Final win).

Schards#2

Schards#2 but the worst IMHO is Millwall 0-1 Yeovil. That must have hurt.

...why?

It's a poor result, but unless you've developed a "small club = shit" mentality so prevalent in the premier league obsessed media, a lower-half team losing to one expected to struggle is hardly humiliation.

It's a home defeat to the side that is ranked as favourites to finish bottom, as bad as it gets and one your manager's first game

Reading 1 Scunthorpe 2

Reading made playoffs I think? scunny went down.

Walsall 4 WBA 1

Walsall went down, WBA went up.

Bad result for Millwall no question but it was probably the worst time to play Yeovil. This is the time where they will still have some feel good factor and the pressure is on the home side. Yeovil wills till finish last but the time you want them is about November after they've had 5/6 defeats on the spin.

Quite surprised Newport 4 - 1 Accrington didnt make the list if playing by Schards' rules.

Rotherham once kicked off their campaign with a Yorkshire derby against Bradford. And lost 11-1.

Apologies for going slightly off on a tangent but there were some crackers last weekend in the Austrian Bundesliga.

The marvellously named Maximilian Hofmann, teenage starlet making his debut for Rapid Vienna got sent off after 90 seconds against Sturm Graz on Sunday. The challenge also conceded a penalty which was scored, Rapid did go on to win 2-1 though.

The other game featured an equally well named team called Admira Wacker who had three players sent off and lost 7-1 to Groedig (an instruction to gardeners maybe).

Only just a teenager, apparently - his 20th birthday is tomorrow!

Walsall 4 WBA 0, in the early 2000s. West Brom were promoted and Walsall relegated, if I remember rightly.

No Fixed Abode Schards talking shite again.

Yeovil have a winning mentality from last year, Millwall don't. Quite often teams who get promoted in the football league do fairly well in the first season as they carry the form through.

Yeovil have notched zero points and scored zero goals since this game

Top result

And they are still above winless Millwall in the table.

Give it up.
