England vs Poland 15/10/13

by Royalclapper » 12 Oct 2013 11:09

This is it then - a win and the usual blousy bollox about which hotel/resort the England team will be staying in and banning/inviting the WAGS over will start following December's WC draw. Lose or draw and another 2 uncomfortable play-off games will be looming.

Hodgson got it spot on against Montenegro, particularly with the selection of Andros Townsend. Walker's yellow card means another right back will have to be chosen, Phil Jones looks to be the safest bet ahead of Chris Smalling or Micah Richards. It's difficult to know what Poland's motivation will be like being as they can no longer qualify leaving a 2 horse race for top spot between England and Ukraine. They do have some threatening players, Lewandowski being the most obvious danger to England.

You'd have thought Poland are likely to have a fairly substantial support on Tuesday given the number of Polish nationals living in the UK. If they do happen to get a result of some kind against us you can bet there'll be newspaper stories on Wednesday morning about how a group of Poles were attacked in Leighton Buzzard or Market Harborough as fighting broke out following the game. Fingers crossed that England will win and give us something to look forward to next summer in Brazil.

I just heard that Poland have been alloc8ed 18,000 tickets for tomorrow... hope that doesn't influence the game too much. Should be an epic atmosphere, though.

I think it's great that there'll be 18k Poles there - will add to the atmosphere and spur England on.

Shit, can feel myself getting drawn into caring about this game against all my better judgement.

Stupidly I agreed to commentate tomorrow in the hope that, as one of the senior guys, I would get the England game. I didnt. So now I will miss this in realtime as I will be commentating on Ireland vs Kazakhstan. Will probably end up inadvertantly finding out via Twitter or Facebook before I get to see the highlights.

I don't feel the potential for 'get this word/sentence into your commentary' has been fully utilised by Hobnob.

It hasnt. Have done it with some mates before. I believe the best I've done so far is starting a rumour during a match in May that Man City had approached SAF for a DOF job. Made it into the column inches of the Sun, no less.

Make me any suggestions for tomorrow night and I'll get them in.

That piece of skill made Shane Long look like a Wizard.
That guy looks older than Royal Lady.

Do like the fans moaning about not being able to get tickets now when they only sold out on Friday! :D

Nice to have a decent atmosphere in a important game for a change. Sadly our fans will be put out of sync by the god awful band

I'll be pleased when this International break has finished.

Get back to proper domestic football.

If Shane Long scores, can you say 'He dedicates that goal to Snowball, off of Hob Nob Anyone?, who sadly passed away this morning'?

It's all text commentary, but I'll see if I can dig something out for you.

Try that one for size. Has my name in the opening post of the commentary and nobbers who know of me IRL can confirm that is my name.
