Fer Play?

by stealthpapes » 28 Oct 2013 12:01

I'm honestly never sure what to make of these. It's an agreement that isn't set in stone.

If it goes in, it's a goal. Fortunately for the ref, he found a way of disallowing it.

Made me laugh cos the ref signalled for the throw to be taken but once it went in said "oooh i didn't blow the whilst"

What i don't understand is, though, why didn't the Norwich player just throw it back to the keeper - or was he "in" on it too?!

I do reckon though, it should be down to the ref to disallow a goal if he feels its unsporting behaviour.

As Fer said, in the Dutch league you don't give the ball back, so I imagine Van Wolfswinkle or whatever he's called was expecting Fer to slot home as well.

Not up to the ref to sort it out IMO.

But they should introduce a "rule" whereby the ref can disallow a goal

Quite possibly, but as there is no rule in place the goal should have stood. Whether they then let Cardiff score should be up to them.

He clearly signals for play to restart.

Thing is, the keeper only threw it out cos a Norwich player was down.....its not as if Cardiff were trying to waste time

I found Fer's post match comments that he deliberately put it in the net somewhat contrary to his reaction. There's no celebration and he seems to continue jogging back towards the centre circle.

I think you'll find that as soon as the throw in was taken the ref signalled for it to be retaken, so there was no way that it could have been a goal anyway.

TBM Thing is, the keeper only threw it out cos a Norwich player was down.....its not as if Cardiff were trying to waste time

They have been told not to send the ball out for injuries and the ref will stop it if he wants.

You either need refs to actually stop the game more often for injuries (very abusable), or physio's to be able to come on in play.

I remember in my final year of school in the senior rugby cup play was brought back from a 3 on 1 try scoring opportunity to treat an injury to a player of ours the ref was standing next to.. The player in question was fine and stood up saying he was winded and gave out to the ref as play was moving away from him and it was a clear try if play had gone ahead. The ref then warned him for swearing and we went on to lose the game following 2 more disallowed tries. Gutting moment.

In short refs shouldn't have more power to stop play in any sport.

They can already stop play for injuries, so they don't need more power. Your problem was the ref used it unnecessarily. I agree it's flawed which is why I said the physio should be able to come straight on as an alternative. You need a rule for what happens if the ball hits the physio though I guess. Or maybe that they can't enter the penalty area, without play being stopped.

Half the probem is the blatant play acting when a player gets "fouled". How many times have we seen live or on tv where a guy is on the deck as if he has been shot and then, as the ball gets close to him, makes a remarkable recovery and sprints after the ball as if nothing happened?

What we see here is another example of clubs failing to educate foreign imports on local customs, behaviour and expectations. A couple of years back, Suarez got done for racist comments aimed at Evra. His excuse was that he was using language used on a daily basis back home. Fer's comments are really no different. It is up to the clubs to ensure that imports understand the way we do things here.

way i see it is you should play to the whistle, so if someone goes down and the ref dont blow, carry the fuk on goalwards

You see in this in rugby where a few tonnes of rugby player are carrying on whilst a physio works on a player. Never seems to reach a point where the physio is in the way though so I don't know what the rules are there. Different game though in that the pattern of play is a bit more predictable.
