sandman It's not crooked, they just don't know how to use it.

Works fairly well in La Liga and if the awful La Liga refs can learn how to use it then anyone should be able to.

Lol @ "awful La Liga refs" when none of ours were chosen for the last World Cup.

Doesn't make La Liga refs any less atrocious.

Works fairly well in La Liga, unless you're Casemiro being clearly brought down in the box. and if the awful La Liga refs can learn how to use it then anyone should be able to.

Poor Real Madrid.

Spoke to my Turkish mate at the paper shop who tells me that Cekir (sp?) is dreadful when refereeing Turkey La Liga games but somehow gets many of the big games in major competitions.
Let's settle for refs everywhere being dire.

Old Man Andrews :| :| :| :|

It doesn't work anywhere as is well documented. It has ruined football, get your head out of the sand.

Power post ^^

It is better than nobody agreeing with you, a situation you face every day of your life.

No John is John. I don't have time for multiple accounts like you do.

Yet again VAR fails to spot an obvious penalty. It’s time to call it a day

Although if it gets that fraud Emery out quicker then I don’t mind. A terrible manager leaving out his two best midfielders each week

Assuming you mean the Saka incident, I didn’t (and still don’t) think it was a penalty and the yellow card was right.

Saka kicked the floor to simulate a trip, it was an awful dive.

Sorry, talking about the Sokratis penalty incident. Egan (I think him) had his hands all over his shirt. Surely that’s a foul?

Oh yeah, that one. Agreed it was a foul.

If I heard correctly, I think Alan Shearer said on MoTD on Saturday that VAR has not been used to give a penalty yet.

They also have not used the monitor yet to check anything out

VAR has been an embarrassing failed experiment and needs to go

It's almost like someone is engineering it to be a disastrous failure if it is yet to award a penalty and no one has used the monitor yet.

Thought they've said they're not going to use a pitch side monitor for the refs to look at incidents again?

Something like that yes, 90-odd games and not one decision given where the ref might've missed something.

The problem comes back to the totally subjective view of has the ref missed something that's clear and obvious. If it was just for factual issues then it would a lot more sense, but otherwise it's just replacing on set of issues with another.
