How can you give a penalty for that. Absolute oxf*rd joke. There was no way he could do anything in mid air with his arm in a natural position. I'm going to beat up VAR

genome Not really a VAR issue, it's a rule issue.

Still an absolute farce though.

^ This. Stop blaming refs/VAR and give the rule makers a kicking instead.

This.

I've actually found VAR to be very good this year with the refs going over to look at the monitors more. It is the right way of using the technology.

It is the handball rule which is oxf*rd.

handball should only be viewed at real speed

slowing it down makes it look unnatural

It does look as though for this season the players will just have to accept that if the ball hits arm or hand it is a penalty.
Next season it will probably revert to unnatural position and all that stuff.

Somebody who knows more about the game can tell us but is it always a penalty in hockey when the ball hits the foot?

How on earth was Pickford not sent off for that “tackle” on van Dijk I thought it was high and “out of control”. If an outfield player had done that I’m sure it would have been a straight red.

I may be a bit biased but Pickford's challenge was a red and was Mane really offside?

VAR interpretations are just stupid, an elbow here, half a knee there. Honestly it’s just ridiculous to go to that length to stop goals counting.

I don’t like Liverpool but they’ve been screwed over today.

If that’s offside I’ve just posted in Cantonese

I'll probably live to regret this but it is nice in this league to talk about the game and VAR.

Makes it feel a bit more real.

Last season 4 goals were given wrongly (admitted by the PGMOL) against us for handballs not spotted.

Now we weren't very good and deserved to be at the bottom but who knows what might have happened had the right decisions been made.

You can accept unfortunate errors on the pitch but no real excuse for the VAR.

David Coote was the VAR ref for the Everton/Liverpool game. Apparently he didn’t even think the Pickford “challenge” was worthy of at least a second look, I would hope that the FA will subsequently look at it and take action.

Are we going to have goals ruled out as offside because someone is wearing their shirt loose and it billows the wrong way at the wrong time ffs.

David Coote seriously needs to have more training as I cannot see from that picture above how in any way Mane can be adjudged offside, even if it was a matter of being equal with the last defender then, given they seem to want to go down to micromillimetres, surely he’s still being played onside by “missing” right hand of the top defender.

Seriously they really need to do something about the referees that act as VAR officials as they either are being told to adhere to ridiculous guidelines or they just don’t know what they’re doing - as the song goes!

Of course if they just got rid of the stupid technology altogether and just went back to good old fashioned human error at least people could be more accepting of the cock-ups.

Coote made a bad mistake in the Spurs v Chelsea game last season which he was called out for mid-match!

Maybe just a rubbish ref?

Another penalty call in the Sheff United v Fulham game.

Trouble for me is that it's so subjective anyway and we seem to be debating decisions even more than ever!
