20 Years since the Premier Leagues last English XI

Good article, It's 20 years since the last English XI and it was only the 55th time this had occurred (obviously football never existed before the Premiership)

There as never been a Premier League game with 22 English starters.

Out of interest is it known anywhere how many first division games there were before the PL with 22 English starters?

Last all-English XI in a FA Cup final was West Ham in '75.

Probably not because the level of stats wasn't really there. Having said that, it might be something that has been looked at retrospectively.

When players like James Morison, who was born and raised in England, aren't counted as English (thus preventing the 'Boro vs Fulham side in 2006 taking the record) it makes it a bit of a pointless stat.
