Victor Meldrew Regardless of whether this is in the right forum it is quite some fairy tale.
Clubs like Hereford, Yeovil, Burton,Maidstone and now possibly Solihull Moors have overachieved over the years and I suspect it could eventually all end in tears but in no way do I begrudge them their moment in the sun.

How is throwing millions and millions of pounds at a club in order to get in the football league a fairytale? It is just inevitable. The money will run out quite soon though.

Yeovil were pretty always been a well supported club at non-league level, and probably ought to be about where Wycombe are, as a sort of League one/two yoyo club. Burton will probably be around that level too.

Hereford were a pretty solid 4th tier club, who never looked out of place in the league.

Unlike many clubs, Solihull Moors don't seem to be a bankrolled club living beyond their means. They are just having an exceptionally good season.

Given Maidstone's crowds have been matching the National League average, or better, since returning home seven years ago, I'm a bit puzzled as to how they've overachieved.

Maidstone overachieved by getting into the football league.

Maidstone overachieved by getting into the football league.

That was effectively a completely different club. And even that one that was knocking on the football league's door in the re-election days, until their dodgy move to Dartford, and subsequent collpase.

Yeah its hilarious. There is a direct link between DD suddenly being their biggest fan and them failing massively! Wonderful stuff.

They will not fail. League 2 is a tough league this year and if they can get out of it that is a massive achievement. Hopefully they can keep their players.

Local rivals?

That's about as local as Wolverhampton is to Reading.

Apart from you know, Yeovil, which is about half the distance?

When you said home to local rivals Exeter, that would imply they were the closest team to FGR, which isn’t true. Cheltenham and Newport are both considerably closer. I would suggest doing a bit of research into the team, and the league they play in, you apparently support.

Hope that helps.

Not forgetting the Swine as well.

Exeter's traditional rivals are, of course, Plymouth and Torquay and more latterly, Yeovil but I think they've also had a thing about Bristol Rovers, Newport and Bournemouth.

Tricky game against the local rivals today to scrape a 0-0 draw. Very tough game against Tranmere in the playoffs. Always have a battle against them but last big game was a 3-1 FGR destroyer win in the po final.
